I wasn't sure which I was supposed to book first, the ceremony or the reception, how much time to leave in between, what photos were to be taken, the list goes on - I went in completely blind. What I DID know was the photographs for the big day were my top priority. When I selected my photographer, I did several phone, skype, and FaceTime interviews as I was an out-of-town bride, living in Chicago and getting married in my home state of NJ. Seperate from the obvious - Tav's photos being the most impressive and dynamic/captivating, he was also, far and away, the best communicator which I SO appreciated as a neurotic, detail-oriented person. He was clear and up-front about the time frame I should give myself before, during, and after both the ceremony and reception. He had several extremely reasonable packages to choose from, allowing me to subtract something due to my out-of-town circumstances. He e-mailed me far in advance to get the names/lists of the VIPs that would be photographed that day (outside of my groom and I of course). Both he and his second shooter (who took shots of my groom and his groomsmen beforehand) were on time, professional, and respectful to all members of the family and friend circle. And most importantly, my wedding photos are brilliant. My album and all of the digital copies I have of MY photos are irreplaceable. I honestly can't believe I'm the first person to review Tav and his work on here but I certainly won't be the last. You WILL NOT be disappointed, start to finish, with Tav Images. Thanks Tav!

When we decided that we did, in fact, want to actually tie the knot in 2020, we decided to stage a very last-minute elopement in Watertown. When we got in touch with Dan, only a few weeks ahead of time, he was super accomodating and excited, fitting us in no problem. And we couldn't be more thrilled that he did! Not only was he a joy to work with, full of great tips and willing to trek through two feet of snow for the right angle or shot (amazing!), but his pictures are GORGEOUS. He's a real talent, with a great eye for setting and composition. We were both blown away when we got our pictures back and couldn't wait to show them to our families. Glen is an amazing photographer, and he will go to great lengths to get pictures that capture you and the spirit of the moment. For our engagement photos, he trekked out to Nahant with us because it's one of our favorite places, and the photos turned out beautifully - he's very creative and artistic. He's big on telling a story with the photographs (he really is a photojournalist), so it turns out very nicely! The wedding photography went great - he and his co-photographer were very inconspicuous - we rarely noticed them, but they somehow caught all the fun, interesting moments on camera. They were always pleasant and accommodating! Re: a previous review, Glen, Asha, and the intake process are a little unusual, but go with the flow - they just take their work and their art seriously, and are intent on being able to capture you, rather than taking a bunch of cookie-cutter photos.

When we contacted DMPJ, the coordinator (not photographer) wanted to have a conversation with us over the phone to see if we were a good 'fit' for them. The conversation was kind of awkward. Felt like we were the ones being interviewed, but she was happy to proceed. So we then met with her and the photographer. We never had a chance to talk to the photographer directly because the coordinator was so overwhelming. After the meeting, we tried negotiating over packages. A couple requests: we didn't need an engagement session, so we asked for a comparable price reduction or a swap for something else. She was very opposed to this, but after several emails, we were able to convince her. We also wanted to meet with the photographer on our own but not allowed. They said they weren't flexible on the price because their advertising funds come from our package and any discounts would go to their next clients. This is what really sent us over the edge with them. Why does the person after me get a discount and not us!? So before we could decide yes or no, we received an email saying they didn't want to work with us. Thanks for listening and please consider this before proceeding with DMPJ.

My fiance and I are getting married in Ohio, but live in New York. We didn't want to make a special…read moretrip to Ohio for engagement pictures, so we decided to do them in New York. A friend recommended Arnav, and I'm glad I took the recommendation! We reached out to Arnav--who was incredibly responsive to all of our requests--and set up a time for the shoot. He had a bunch of great ideas for locations, but since Tom and I got engaged in Central Park, live near Central Park, and just generally spend a lot of time there, we decided that it would be the most meaningful choice (cliche as it may be). The session was essentially a stroll through the park. Arnav has a great eye for what photographs well, so when he saw a promising spot (setting, lighting, etc.), he would pose us and off we'd go. And the photographs were wonderful! I generally don't consider myself the most photogenic of people (I just can't master the fake smile), but Arnav did a great job making the photographs genuine and attractive. He has a particular talent with lighting and uses unique vantage points that make for pictures that are both unique and interesting. In addition to the amazing quality of the pictures, Arnav was also just enjoyable to work with. Having experienced wedding photographers who were nightmares, it's hard to overstate how important it is to be comfortable with someone--someone who can get the good shot without being too demanding or abrasive. The only piece of advice I would give (and this hold for any photographer, not just Arnav) is to ask if you want a particular photograph. Photographers aren't mind readers!
