This review is based on my experience in April when I adopted my new kitten Aiden who at the time…read morewas 6 weeks old and is now almost 10 months. I had been looking at the available kittens in the humane society's website for a week or 2 before I came and I noticed that it was best to go in early in the day. Prior to coming to this location, I went to the satellite location at Petco by Lakeside mall. As I had put my previous cat to sleep in early March and she had been a girl, I was there for boy kittens. The only kittens at that location were girl however the staff working the cat area were really helpful. I was informed that there were 2 boy kittens that would be available starting in an hour at the Detroit location. The staff told me to call the number on the sign immediately when I arrived in order to get in line. I was about 15 minutes early and when I called, they answered right away and put me in line. I was the 2nd person in for adoptions but the 1st person going for cats/kittens. The staff member that helped me with the adoption was so nice and helpful. She answered all of my questions and within about 30 minutes from when I walked in, I walked out with my new kitten Aiden. I recommend the humane society for adoption of cats and kittens.

I think their whole operation is a scam. I adopted a puppy there a few months ago. They contacted…read moreme twice to see how things were going. It was too soon to tell with the first email they sent. They were to contact me with some issues I was having but I never heard from them. so at the exact 60 day mark (they give you 60 days to decide if you want to keep the dog) I got another email to see, once again, how it was going. Told them about my issues and they said I would get a call....once again, never called me. So now it's past the 60 days for a surrender and a refund. AND TRYING TO REACH THEM IS A BIG FAT JOKE!! 1 stinking number that is never answered...a receptionist at the,Detroit office even told me it would be a waste of time trying to call. And if you want to surrender the dog you need to make an appointment and there would be a $60 fee. On top of the $25 I paid to decide if I wanted the dog to begin with. They would have him on "hold" till I came back the next day....and it better be within 24 hours or you lose everything! All this for a Detroit alley dog. AND why do they guess the info about the dog? They gave me a birthdate (dog must have told them) and they said it would be a lap dog. Well it's at 40 pounds as of today.... you need a pretty big lap to hold that dog. We never had issues with mhs throughout the years and those were the best dogs we ever owned! Things sure have changed. I am sooooo disappointed in the whole process and the dog. Will never adopt from them again.

Our English Bulldog, Charlie stayed overnight for the first time last weekend at Bark Avenue. As an…read moreoverbearing dog mom, I was worried about him being around other dogs (he's a senior and will be 11 in a few months) and thought he'd be lonely staying for 4 nights. I had nothing to worry about at all! He had so much fun - he didn't want to leave when we picked him up:) I was able to check Facebook daily to see pictures of him playing with other dogs in the group and hanging out with his human friends. They sent him home with a report card showing his favorite activities, playmates and behavior recap! Charlie had a great time flirting and making pals with everyone, he came home happy, healthy and exhausted from all the fun and excitement!!! What a great place...Thank you Bark Avenue:)

They have doggie pools and tons of area for them to run. The facility was nice and cool when we dropped our dog off to board for a few days. We missed him, but never worried because we knew he was in good hands. I can't say enough about bark Avenue and the socializing and play provided to our pet. He got a pawgress report at the end of his stay. Just cute little touches like that make them pawsome. Check out their fb page for cute daily pics of playing puppies during their business hours.

I had my first visit at Spartan Veterinary yesterday for my lil 17 year old senior guy. What…read moreinitially brought me here is their affordable pricing which was HALF the price I was quoted for testing from the vet I had been using. This is really important to me to maintain the health of my senior pup and make sure he gets the testing he needs. When I arrived, I noticed a sign the said 'Welcome' and had his name listed. Before we were placed in a room, he got a cute little bandana that they sprayed with pheromones to help him stay calm. It's little thoughtful touches like this that really matter and help you and your pet feel at ease. After his testing was done, I spoke to Doctor Boatman who was extremely thorough. I could tell that she very thoroughly read and digested his previous records and his current tests we came in for because when she spoke with me, she was very clear and concise with the best plan of action moving forward. She's a very straight shooter which I greatly appreciate. My appointment was at 5:30 and I didn't leave until 7 when they closed. She actually took the time to speak very frankly with me and answer all my questions. I really appreciate the time she took to explain everything and give her very honest opinion. I did not feel rushed at any point even though they were closing, and I felt like I was able to ask all my questions and get satisfactory answers. I also appreciate their later hours as I was able to get to my appointment after work without having to rush. The staff was very friendly and even came in to tell me how well my Nicco did with his tests and give him pets!

The doctor called me back within a day when I had more questions about my dogs lab results. One of the things I love most is that every person that works there is clearly an animal lover. I will start off by saying that COVID-19 has made things hard for businesses and people in general,…read moreand it sucks. That being said I have taken my dog there a few times and honestly was not impressed with with their service. The last time I was there they seemed brain boggled as to me saying I wanted my dogs hair cut short and followed up with confirming I wanted ears trimmed and tail cleaned up. Went back to get the dog and from afar it looked good, so I paid and even left a tip. When I got home and got a good look at the dog, I noticed blatant tuffs of fur that were missed all over the dogs body. The tail wasn't cleaned up and looked like shit. I honestly didn't really have too much faith in this place because they seemed very scatterbrained and flustered with whatever was on their mind. So I will never ever go back to this place seeing I have to clean up my dogs fur from their mistake, or should I say lack of knowledge on how to cut a dogs hair...I guess the tip I paid is how much it will cost me to never see those people again. The long wait for Dapper Dog Wash would have been worth it instead of falling victim to sub par work as i was an idiot for going back more then once.
