Maki Sushi - Edmond A new sushi spot has landed at 150th & Rockwell, and you know I had to check it out. Maki Sushi is a quaint, inviting space with a nice mix of seating--about four stools at the sushi bar, a handful of booths, and a combination of tables and chairs. It's not a huge place, but it feels comfortable and welcoming. Even though I placed a to-go order, the wait didn't feel like a chore. Service was pleasant, and the staff had that "happy to be here" vibe--which always makes a difference. Now let's talk food... I went straight for the sushi (no surprise there). Figured I'd start at the top and ordered the Rockwell Roll--loaded with salmon, tuna, and hamachi, plus avocado, then topped with spicy mayo and masago. Fresh, flavorful, and well-balanced. This roll delivers. I grabbed the Shrimp Fried Rice for my wife. . . didn't even ask, and that was a solid choice too--savory, satisfying, and a great complement to the sushi. The Verdict: A great addition to the area and a win for local sushi lovers. Having a spot like this close to home is always a plus. I'll definitely be working my way through the menu to see what other gems they've got. 4 Stars - Strong start with plenty more to explore

Nice sushi & ramen (their curry ramen was very good), great and attentive service but the interior atmosphere is the most awesome - relaxing and dimly lit with soothing music. Relatively new as well, check it out!

If I can convince my wife to try something called the "Naughty Girl Roll"... you already know we're off to a strong start From the moment we walked in, the vibe was exactly what you want in a sushi spot--comfortable, relaxed, and not trying too hard to be something it's not. Just good energy and a place you can actually enjoy your meal. Our server Juan? Spot on. Attentive without hovering, checked in at all the right times, and kept things moving smoothly. Let's Talk Food Naughty Girl Roll This is the one. Tempura shrimp, avocado, and cream cheese, topped with baked salmon, spicy mayo, sweet sauce, masala, and scallions. Rich? Yes. Over-the-top? Maybe. Worth it? Absolutely. This is the roll you order when you want to convert someone into a sushi fan. Ikura (Salmon Roe) This one was all mine--and that's probably for the best. If you're into that briny pop and clean ocean flavor, this hits. If not... no shame in sitting this one out. Norwegian Mackerel A really well-balanced dish. Cooked just right, paired with bok choy, shiitake mushrooms, and white rice. Clean, flavorful, and a nice break from the heavier rolls. Bento Box My wife's choice--and honestly, a smart one. If you're not feeling adventurous, this gives you variety without stepping too far outside your comfort zone. The Verdict This place checks all the boxes: Flavor Variety Service Atmosphere Whether you're a sushi regular or just dipping your toe in, The Sushi Bar delivers.

The hanging wish cards, the wood accents, the little booth seating areas, even the lighting all work together. It is one of those places where you catch yourself looking around instead of just staring at your phone while you wait for food. Now the important part. The ramen. This was not some sad, watered down airport food court attempt at ramen. The broth was rich without being overwhelming, the noodles had the right bite, and everything in the bowl actually tasted like it belonged there. The pork was tender, the egg was perfect, and yes, I am now the kind of person who notices if an egg is done right. Even the little details were on point. Clean presentation, good portion sizes, and everything came out hot and fast without feeling rushed. The drinks were solid too, and I may or may not have been tempted to order a second round just to justify sitting there longer. Service was friendly and efficient, we had a fun time with our server. Nothing worse than great food and a weird vibe. Not the case here. If you are someone who thinks ramen is just instant noodles with better marketing, go here and let that belief die. I will absolutely be back. Probably sooner than I should be.

The ramen was not good or tasty to us, so we didn't order it again this time. My notes for last time was that the ramen was flavorless, and watery. This time, today, we ordered the Honeycomb Platter, Takoyaki, Chicken Wings (KBBQ), Pan-Fried Gyoza, and the Smashed Cucumber. Honeycomb Platter 10/10 - always good. Good flavor variety. My favorite is the shrimp. My girlfriends favorite is also the shrimp. Smashed Cucumber 7/10 - was not smashed like in photo. That's OK. Sliced cucumber with a chili vinaigrette. Fresh but a bit spicy. Takoyaki 5/10 - not the best we've had but we are picky. Good for people who are trying Takoyaki for the first time. Nice filling but lame flavor. Chicken Wings (KBBQ) 5/10 - 6 wings, half flats half drum. Tasty, but wing quality is just OK. Tangy KBBQ flavor. Medium crispness. Pan-Fried Gyoza 8/10 - yummy ! Not crispy on bottom but it was still pretty good. Pork inside is juicy and tender. Very cool presentation. We liked the variety of things we ordered this time, but could've done without the wings and extra Takoyaki, as the honeycomb platter comes with 2 balls. We sat upstairs in the honeycomb booths this time. Felt private enough but the acoustics made me feel like everyone could hear everything. Bright and quiet enough for a midday lunch today. Will probs be back another time for some other apps. Thanks

Without asking we were silently given a bottle of what's supposed to be labeled as siracha sauce but it wasn't. I tried it thinking maybe it was a creamy siracha sauce they had, but there was no spice. I asked the waitress what it was and she said it was Yum Yum sauce they put into the bottle. This is NOT okay to do, especially if someone has an allergy. And it doesn't tell the customer if it's still fresh since it's been moved to a mislabeled bottle. It's very important for staff and customers to know the expiration date and ingredients of a product. I saw they had multiple bottles of the replaced sauce. While using the restroom the toilet paper holder didn't have its front lid so trying to get the paper made it roll out every time and I had to hold it down. And the toilet itself was loose. Sitting down and getting up made it move. The sink faucet was very grimy with dried water. The good: Waitress was nice. Food was tasty, save for the egg rolls which didn't have much flavor but were decent.

This is real sushi -- high-quality nigiri and fresh fish that honestly doesn't even need soy sauce. But if you truly appreciate fresh fish, clean flavors, and traditional-style sushi, you'll love it here. It's definitely quality over quantity, and yes, you get what you pay for. This isn't a cheap all-you-can-eat sushi place, but the freshness and quality absolutely justify the price. I'll definitely be back.

You have to prepay for both the omakase and a 20% gratuity. I've never seen gratuity prepaid before, so I just wanted to point that out. We made reservations for Mother's Day at 6:30 PM and arrived about 7 minutes before our reservation time. There was another couple already seated at the counter. This restaurant is a chef's counter experience only for the time being. I think Chef Sonny only accepts 6 or 7 people at a time since I only noticed 6 seats. Anyway, we were served beverages immediately, and shortly after, started the 12-course meal. I thought everything tasted amazing. If I had to nitpick, I'd say I wasn't fond of the tempura scallop and the steamed dish afterward. They were both fine, but for me lacked flavor. However, I am not deducting a star for this because I also have POTS and have to eat a very high-sodium diet, so it could have just been me. The rest of the omakase, or "Oklahomakase," experience was perfection. My husband and I both agreed that this is our new favorite restaurant. Fun fact: Chef Sonny used to work at Nobu Miami! I thought that was super cool, and it's no wonder his skill level is elite! I agree with everyone else on Yelp--hands down the best sushi in Oklahoma. Please go and support him so, we don't lose this neighborhood gem!
