I've been living in SD for almost 13 years and I've tried a 3-4 different stylists in the area, but…read morewith naturally wavy hair as an Asian, many hair stylists have not been able to cut my hair very well. In addition, I love letting my stylist do their magic b/c I am a loyalist, and when it comes to color/highlights, I want to allow them to paint the canvas b/c they know what's on trend and they are the experts. I was spoiled b/c when I lived in the Seattle area, I had a gem of a stylist, and b/c I struggled finding the right person in SD, I continued to see her up until last year, when I was fortunate to meet Siobhain. She's newer to Ashen Salon, but I've followed her here and for sure, this is the right spot! The salon is bright and has a great energy! The receptionist is inviting, and the stylists all seem happy! They have some complimentary beverages while you're getting your service, along with some nice seating and magazines/books. One of the biggest challenges with finding the right stylist is my hair grows very fast and has a natural wave. It varies based on humidity, as girls with wavy/curly hair know, so I've had previous cuts where people razor my hair or however they cut it, it always makes me have major triangle head (not a good look)! Siobhain tends to cut my hair dry, which was an adjustment, but overall it's allowed her to see how the hair will lay when it's dry and follow the natural wave. I've also gotten color and highlights done, which is my fave with Siobhain! She always keeps me fresh and on point, and I always get compliments on my hair after I see her! Besides her skills, she's just a gem and always vibrant and on her game! In my short time seeing her, my mom and my other friend have both had pixie cuts from Siobhain, which according to my friend, also requires major skill to meet the person's preferences, and they've both been happy! Street parking is usually decent, although summer months likely will be busier. I'm not aware of any associated parking, but I've never had any issues finding parking. Appointments are definitely recommended. Pricing is along the standard I think I've seen with most salons, with most cuts ranging around $40-80 based on length/style, and color/highlights ranging from $100-250 depending on what you get done. So happy I found Siobhain and have a great stylist in the SD area now! I definitely recommend that you see Siobhain at Ashen Salon.
