Okay Venue In Need of Updating. I'm mainly here to review the county fair, but I have been to…read moreseveral events here, and the only thing the fairgrounds need is updates to the buildings, they are very very old and in some cases, in need of repair. About the County Fair: Not everyone is going to like a particular county fair, and some are more eventful than others, I would rate this above average for a count fair, and I've been to around 10 different ones in Oregon, even to the tiny Morrow County Fair, which I loved btw. First, Any mention of tigers, registrants, etc, are nothing to do with the county fair itself. A caged tiger is NOT animal abuse anymore than a caged butterfly, that's absurd. You do realize most tigers in existence are only captive bred, and it is because of this, we can still see this marvelous species, particular White Tigers which no longer even exist in the wild. These tigers used in a zoo or show or exibhit are not wild, they are captive bred, and have been, in most cases for well over a hundred years. Unfortunately this is not what some ill-informed ppl would have you believe. If they were being wild caught for anything other than rehabilitation, maybe, but they're not wild. It is not anymore child abuse than keeping a cat, dog, reptile, or hampster. Some animal rights activist are against that as well btw they just don't b usually say it, and rating a fair 1 star when the tiger want at the actual fair, r is duplicitous and deceptive when the fair is based around livestock and other animal exhibits which havn't been wild either, it's ridiculous, you don't have to like it, but it is not prison, slavery, genocide, or abuse. Two, I've been to this fair 5 times and it is one of the better county fairs in Oregon, it is a relatively fun fair, and I didn't have to pay for concerts, at least not the ones before vthe "main attraction", no idea what ppl are talking about. Stop making everying about politics, and being silly. it's a fair, it is not more expensive than other county fairs, minus really tiny ones, like Morrow County, I would know, I've been there. Third, the food is fairly priced, and I have enjoyed it, there are good selections for a smaller fair, and for fair food, things are not exorbitant in cost. 4, I don't know what people expect, maybe they haven't been to many small county fairs? I have been to many in Oregon, and the Marion County fair from where I'm from, is not much better, and Marion is a MUCH larger county. Douglas county on the other hand is smaller and has a fabulous county fair; probably the best county fair in Oregon. Benton County is a decent fair and I enjoy it every time I go. ~Amy

The only reason I'm not giving the 5th star is because they seen to be struggling with inventory. They used to have lots of cute little options for kids for less than $10. The last couple times though there was really nothing for less than $10 except coin size things, a small tile, or a palm tree that the kids had no interest in. They want small animals or cute things. The only thing that worked was over $15 they were done with it in about 15 min. Spendy day. Hopefully they will realize kids are a good chunk of business & get on the ball with some better inventory.

We once again ordered a custom arrangement with a bit of a Hawaiian touch for a friend who was born and raised in Hawaii. Many of the flowers of Hawaii that could have been used were simply not available in Oregon during our timeframe. Another supply chain issue of covid. Happy with the results our friend had received last time, we knew Expressions in Bloom would do the best they could, with what they were able to get, as a fitting tropical tribute to our friend's service. They were quite clear as to what flowers would be available and we were happy they were still able to add a Hawaiian touch to our request. They basically had a week to work with as timing was important for our unexpected event. We received a pic of the arrangement and are happy with the final product. Pre-covid, current covid conditions, Expressions came through again. Expressions in Bloom will continue to be our "go to" florist in the Corvallis, Oregon area. Support for small businesses is important during these tough economic times. Support your local businesses, we're all in this together. Bought two wrist corsages for Mother's Day this past weekend for my wife and mom and they use a…read morecord that has no elasticity that you are supposed to twist or tighten somehow to get them to stay in place. Neither was able to get them to stay on and were not able to use them. The owner called and implied that they work very well and it was simple to tighten them and we should have figured out how to use them or called for guidance. They did not try them on until they received them minutes before we left for church. I have bought one every year for some 44 years now and this is the first experience like this as I did not like the quality nor the owner's implications and lack of concern. I was visiting Corvallis, so this is not a florist I would use nor recommend to anyone.

Corvallis Waldorf School (CWS) has been an incredible place for our family. As a parent of two…read morechildren attending the school, I have consistently felt inspired and, in a sense, healed each time I experience the warmth and uniqueness of the community at assemblies or school events. I sometimes refer to the Waldorf approach as a "healing curriculum," because it deeply aligns with how we parent at home and enriches my children's lives immensely. What originally drew me to CWS was its balanced, holistic approach to education and the relationships that they build with their teachers - importantly, that their main lesson teacher takes them through all the grades- 1 through 8. The Waldorf curriculum avoids the use of individual iPads and screen-based learning. Instead, it focuses on the arts, nature, and hands-on activities. Beginning in grade 4, students learn to play a string instrument and receive instruction three days a week during regular school hours. Physical education and outdoor play are core to their daily routine--children spend substantial time outside regardless of the weather. Influenced by Natalie Wexler's book, "The Knowledge Gap," I deeply value the knowledge-rich education my children are receiving at CWS, that builds knowledge year after year. For example, students explore ancient civilizations and Greek mythology in grade 5, delve into Roman history through the Middle Ages in grade 6, study the Renaissance in grade 7, and progress to modern history in grade 8. Math instruction is engaging and tangible in the early grades, and students receive support whether they need extra assistance or advanced enrichment. My children have also developed remarkable writing skills, producing beautiful, creative work in cursive. The practical skills my kids are gaining through handwork (knitting, sewing, crocheting) and woodworking are not only joyful, but practical too - that knowing that you can complete a project that takes months as well as the hand eye gymnastics is great for the brain. Socially, the teachers foster a nurturing environment where children feel supported discussing and resolving interpersonal conflicts, guided by caring adults. For example, some teachers host "teatime" to create a warm circled-up pause-i-the-day for children to reflect and openly discuss ways to improve social dynamics. The joy I've observed in my kids since enrolling here reaffirms our decision every day. I highly recommend Corvallis Waldorf School to families seeking an intentional, joyful, and holistic educational experience. The only downside is that there isn't a high school program!
