Overall, a great tour! Very rich history of how MM came to be. Lots of reference to Miss Margerie. There is alot of local artists that have made items dedicated to MM and are displayed within the grounds area. With the artistry and the employee attitudes, the tour felt homey. Chad was a great guide whome seems to have a good knowledge of the process used at MM. I would go back, but I would consider the bigger tour. Maker's Mark distillery is beautiful!! We didn't do a tasting or tour here because everything was reserved but it did not matter. We went anyway and I am glad we did. In the lobby there are a few choices of cocktails that you can purchase to try while you look around the grounds. We had the Old Fashioned and it was pretty good. Walking around the property was fun , it's beautiful! In the gift shop you can purchase a bottle of Maker's Mark and dip your bottle in the red wax, I enjoyed doing that very much!! If you decide to take the backroads the roads are narrow. Some places you have to pull over so one car can get through. The scenery is worth it, so much to see!! read more

Beautiful grounds and extremely friendly staff... for the most part. Did not pay for the tour, but rather just walked around and checked stuff out on our own. First stop was the restaurant for food and a couple drinks. Turns out the kitchen has been closed for 6 months. Ordered two expensive drinks from a moody bartender. Walked around some more before heading to the fort shop. Bought two small bottles so we could dip our own bottles. That was very cool! Staff here was super friendly and we got lots of pictures. Definitely recommended dipping your own bottle. That about wraps up this trip. If you like Makers Mark I would recommend booking a tour early! read more

One of the better tours going, tbh. The amount of things you see + you get to sample 5 bourbons. That's the most of any tour I can think of. Most distilleries usually do 3-4 samples. The grounds are stunning. It is definitely worth going out of your way to come to Maker's Mark. And make no mistake - you have to go out of your way. It is pretty far off the interstate, and Google will take you down some unstriped country roads. Just an FYI. As distillery tours go, this one is probably very near or at the top of the list. This place is incredible. I really enjoyed how the tour guide made our experience unique and special. By far one of the best tour out there in Louisville. We learned so much of the history and the campus is one of my favorites so far. They even let us take photos of the mash room that not many other distilleries allowed so that was nice. We even got to dip our own bottle. Blown away isn't even the phrase. For free you can sign up as an ambassador and the tour and grounds that they had were out of this world. I first toured Maker's Mark back in 2013. I went back today for my Ambassador Graduation. The Ambassador program is where your name get puts in a barrel, and you follow it through the aging process. Maker's Mark sends updates over the years, and when the barrel is done, you get a free tour for two and can buy some bourbon with your name on the bottle. Learn more about this and sign up for free on the Maker's website. It was slightly over and hour drive to Loretto, KY. It's not awful, and you definitely see the countryside. Forewarning, we did not have cell phone service near or at Maker's, so maybe screenshot directions in case you get disconnected, and don't plan on checking in on Yelp (at least not with T-Mobile). There's plenty of parking, and during the COVID-19 pandemic, tour sizes are small, masks are required, and you won't go into active places where germs could be spread. So, you're outside mostly (even for the tasting), but that was fine by me! At the end of the tour, you'll go to the gift shop. If you buy bottles, you can dip them in wax there! That's a lot of fun! There is also a shuttle from there that can drive you back up the hill you are now at the bottom of. (It's not large, but if you're carrying several bottles, it's convenient.) Between gifts in the mail and name tags on a tour for Ambassadors and dipping your own bottle, Maker's Mark is great at marketing, and it all makes a great experience! I recommend it! read more

Hubby and I went on the Ambassador's Tour of the distillery. Our keg which was brewing for 8years was ready for us to buy some bourbon from it. The ambassador tour is for those people who have a barrel of Maker's Mark ready to be bottled. This tour is very informative and interesting, your guide takes their time explaining the brewing process. An added bonus is that the ambassadors get to sample the whisky (yes this is the way it looks on the bottle), many times during the tour.
