Note that the Pulitzer family once owned this building, so the brand presence is appropriate! Woven JEKYLL sweaters and very cute JEKYLL beach towels are two items I may have to stop back and buy. I love the luxury boutique feel of the shop, which takes up the full first floor of a historic cottage (with a long history but most famous for its use as the historic resort infirmary). It took my husband going in and demanding 4 months of payments for me to get my first checks. Unfortunately, there was always an excuse for why she wasn't responding, or paying. I was more than patient. In fact, I was neglectful in staying on top of it, because of personal crisis at home. She hasn't paid for months now, and I just found out that she has closed her store. She still has all of my art, and gave me no warning to go and get my things, let alone get payment for anything sold. How can anyone run a business, that depends on artists, when they treat their artists this way. At least if there had been some communication, I could have been understanding. Communication is everything. If she reopens somewhere again, my art will not be in her store. I will find another venue?

For me the museum didn't amount to much, which is probably why its free of charge give away, but I found the Museum Gift Shop to be a nice place to pick up souvenirs, some really good quality items they refer to as being of the Jekyll Island Collection, books on the history of Jekyll Island Museum as well as some surrounding areas where you can view the old horse stalls of such notables as Joseph Pulitzer. This gift shop along with most of the others you'll find within the Jekyll Island Historic District are rather first class as opposed to the cheap stuff most often found in such tourist shops.

Also this "store" was listed under thrift shops. As we entered, we saw that in the back there are a few areas with vintage items and some antiques. But the place is more of a collection of artisan offerings -- each with their own area -- of everything from jewelry to painted signs, gifts and tourist things. Housewares to home decor; bric a brac to collectibles. Handmade and custom creations. The staff is quite nice. The store is fun to browse. And the kind of place to look for a unique gift for that someone who has everything.
