I remember the course being in decent shape, and having some nice holes, but mainly it was about seeing how often I could hit into Dirty Harry before he blew me away! Fortunately, "The Man With No Name" kept his .44 Magnum in the holster and we caught up with him a few holes later while waiting for the group in front of them. We chatted for awhile (they were both REALLY down to earth and friendly) about golf and such, and they went on their way. It was just one of those, "did that just really happen" moments. Another thing I remember was watching the sunset over Molokini, it was nothing short of breathtaking and the perfect end to an awesome day.

Went to the beach on vacation which is right behind this place. My two children had to use the…read morebathroom so I walked to the closest opening in the sand and came across an open grassy area up top (about 40 feet wide with no people) to try and locate one. I saw a worker who was kicking back watching TV in the covered part of the area. He asked if I need help so I asked where the bathroom was. Instead of just answering my question, he proceeded to tell me (a woman with two small kids that needed to use the bathroom - if you know how that is... then you know how this felt) that this was private property, members only, and that I had to go use the portapotty... obviously this was fine, I didn't see a bathroom in this area and wasn't trying to sneak and use a pristine members only bathroom - just simply trying to find whatever beach bathroom there was. The tone in his voice telling me this is for "members only" and emphasizing over and over that we had to use the portapotty was disgusting... we were half way through the grass before he even saw us and I could see the portapotty right ahead of us when he pointed in the direction... he insisted that we could not continue walking through the completely vacant area and made us walk back the way we came and around the entire area. Mind you, walking backwards took as long as it would've had he let us walk forward, so it was simply a power play... When I said how do you know we aren't members? He started looking me up and down and said "I've never seen you." I'm black by the way... this is clearly a residential membership... assuming if I was a white woman with two kids, he may not have looked at me the way he did. What a smug - less than compassionate - disgusting worker bee... imagine explaining to my kids why they couldn't just continue walking through to the bathroom when we were already half way through and could see it in front of us... even my four year old picked up on his tone and told her dad he was "being mean to mommy" when we got back.

From start to finish, our entire experience was absolutely wonderful. The hotel staff were all extremely kind and engaging, offering helpful tips and suggestions. We had nothing but positive interactions with the valet and the front desk. The staff that work at the on-site restaurants were also lovely. Our ocean view room was clean and spacious. It had all of the amenities we could hope for and the shower had wonderful water pressure. My only request would be that there was a shelf in the shower to put the shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, as we ended up having to put them on the floor and bending over in the shower while pregnant is not an easy task. The linens were soft and I appreciated the opportunity to earn food and beverage credit or Hilton reward points if we opted out of having our room cleaned each day. The blackout curtains in the room were also wonderful. We thoroughly enjoyed watching the sunset from our balcony each evening and listening to the live music that was performed each night down by the pool. There was ample pool space with plenty of pool chairs, both in the sun and in the shade. Access to the beach was extremely easy. While we were there, we also took part in morning yoga, access to the complementary aquatic activities, a sound bath under the full moon, and the infamous luau. I also booked a prenatal massage at the spa, which was absolutely divine. Access to the Courtesy Car to drop us off at nearby restaurants for reservations was extremely convenient. We appreciated the complementary reusable water bottles and the local snacks and beverages that were restocked in our mini bar. All in all, it was an absolute incredible stay and the next time we find ourselves in Maui, we will absolutely be returning to the Andaz.

I initially planned on canceling our trip, but the hotel asked that we still come since they needed the business. I just didn't want to be in the way, but Lahaina is far away so we had no impact. It's a beautiful, huge resort with a great deal of amenities to include outdoor grills, basketball court, tennis courts, pool, etc. The onsite bar and restaurant is also very nice. It's in a great location near the center of Wailea and close to Kihei so it makes for easy travel. Love our stay here.

My expectations were high and the property, although stunning, left a bit to be desired in terms of the quality of the room. However, the reason I am giving this hotel my highest recommendation is because of the superb quality of my interactions with the staff. They were kind and committed to helping my family during an important family vacation. I felt like a guest at a friends home more than a guest at a hotel. We ended up moving to another area of Maui but I will always remember and appreciate the courtesy of the many members of the staff from Residence Inn being helpful to us during our brief stay. If hospitality is important to you, like it is me, you will be impressed by the staff's desire to help you enjoy your stay in a property that can only be described as stunning.

I wish I was able to go more than once! The drill was 1.5 hours long and Joseph taught it. We warmed up for the first 15-30 min and then played a bunch of mini games. There were 8 of us in the class and very different levels ranging from kids on the college tennis team to me (who picked up tennis as a hobby during the pandemic). Joseph did a great job pairing us up for the mini games so it was a challenge for all. It was a great way to work off all the lava flows from the past week and have fun doing it. It's also a beautiful setting to play some tennis! I left my racquet back home, but they do offer rentals as well. And for those not wanting to do a drill you can just reserve courts, get a ball machine and/or lessons with the pros.

The members do a great job of helping to organize with the rules and we made some great friends while visiting. Thanks Ryan for making us feel at home! I did hear that sadly there was a petition to end pickleball here because of the noise at the end of 2024. I hope it's not true and they can continue because this is a fantastic pickleball community with some really nice courts.
