Very nice statue of the one and only, Marshall "Major" Taylor, who deserved to be known everywhere, but well known in Worcester is a good start. Nice that the statue is accessible and at a level where visitors feel like they can almost have a conversation with him, rather than the ones that are so high up in the air, you can barely make out their features. Also with the design as it is, I was able to get a photo next to him, which, in real life, I would have done just about anything to do--of course, that would have also required time travel--but I digress. I was told this was the first statue of an African-American man in Worcester, and they picked one of the best. So nice to see a sports legend like Major honored in this way. read more
