Attended a Capable Partners pheasant shoot on March 22nd, 2025 at Major Hunt Club. A very nice facility. Great dog work, good food, had a great time. The birds weren't flying real good with many going down too close to the launch tower to allow shots to be taken. The only other negative was that they didn't have any heat on in the club house, which would have been appreciated after a chilly morning afield. They did a good job of running the hunt. First time visiting the Major Ave Hunt Club. It wasn't a great experience. The positives: I loved the convenience of being able to book online. The staff that greeted me were friendly and welcoming. The facility is fair, clean and unpretentious. The negatives: I booked a field recommended by their website for training new dogs. They moved me without notice. (I understand having to move a smaller party of hunters for a larger group but notice would be nice) I had been working with my new dog and requested birds be flagged so I could work on training my dog. They placed birds and flagged. Sadly, the field was full of flags. Far more flags than birds placed out. So it wasn't much help for a rookie dog and a novice handler. They offered cleaning services for the birds but it wasn't available for my visit. They suggested giving prior notice for bird cleaning. I plan to return and give this place another try. They seem like good people. I hope my next experience is different. I would gladly update my review after my next visit. read more

Had my dog trained here last December and he came back a much different and calmer dog. They brought out the hunting in him and gave him the correct obedience that he needed to become a great family dog. read more
