We liked the outdoor seating so I thought it would be a great spot for a morning breakfast. The serving staff was very friendly and kind. We ordered two lattes and three breakfast sandwiches and we're a bit sticker shocked when the total came to $55. The breakfast sandwiches were ok but pretty greasy but the lattes were good. Overall a nice spot but the value for what you get wasn't great.

We walked to both places so driving and parking was not a problem. Interestingly there were a lot of classic vehicles going by. You can order beer, cocktails, soup, sandwiches and even coffee. We sat outside at the deck. It was really nice to sit and watch the people, cars and motorcycles pass by. The sandwiches ar interesting and not oversized or over priced. There is secure WiFi although it seemed to have difficulty reaching the deck. If you walked to Signal Hill you should stop at the Battery Cafe because you'll walk right past it and you deserve it. The Newfoundland sundae with jam and ice cream is worth ordering on a warm day.

There are lots of tables. The sound level ideal as it was pleasant and yet we could have a conversation without feeling conspicuous. The sandwiches were delicious. I swapped half my roasted vegetable sandwich with my wife who had a turkey with avocado sandwich. They were both very good. One thing was that the bottom of mine was soggy but that happens. The turkey sandwich bun was not at all soggy. We enjoyed our drinks and sitting and watching the people go by. The staff were friendly and helpful. You wait for drinks at the counter but they bring food orders to your table. That's a great way to to it as it doesn't take nearly as long to make drinks as it does food. We were walking so I can't comment on parking. I'm sure they have WiFi but I didn't check. I highly recommend Coffee Matters because they've got what I like.

Well, I'm about to become the same thing in reverse - flying to St. John's to get my sweet fro-yo on at Menchie's. Without a fro-yo bar in Halifax, getting to pile on toppings sky-high at Menchie's was a hella treat. I don't love many desserts but a nice cup of vanilla with chunks of all my favourite chocolate bars and peanut butter sauce was just about perfect. Staff were friendly and helpful and the process of loading up was pretty easy to follow. I've heard there's sometimes a wait as they keep the number of customers controlled so that it's never too crowded inside. We walked right in though, just keep it in mind.

She walked me through the process of self serve froyo and backed off so I didn't feel crowded at all. Would give 5 stars if based on cleanliness and service. Sample cups were provided, which was nice. The frozen yogurt really isn't top notch or maybe I've been spoiled with real frozen yogurt over the years. The selection is okay, just not what I was expecting for frozen yogurt (I just wanted peach- no flavor or topping). The first 5 spoonfuls or so was great, even moreish. But gradually I found that the rich yogurt taste wasn't really there. As it melted into a mostly clear liquid later on my coffee table, it was plain to see that it's not REAL frozen yogurt as the real stuff would've melted similar to an ice cream rather than see-through. Bit of a let down really. And they only have one size cup to fill, which is brilliant marketing. It's a humongous cup, and you -will- take more than you actually want. The setup of the store is quite refreshing though, I've never seen a place quite like it. Atmosphere was alright. The place looks great and lively but maybe there's a bit too much going on. Definitely geared towards the younger crowd. But the music they were playing was classical/opera. I jokingly told the cashier that she must've brought her own CD in today, and that I'd want a raise based on the audio torture alone if I were in her position. 2 stars may be harsh on the back of such excellent customer service and the store itself, but it's mostly because of the fake stuff. I'm sure it's good on a hot summer's day though. (Cups are bigger than the picture attached below)

We ordered the Sirloin Sate Beef and the Grilled Lemongrass Chicken Breast. Both banh mi sandwiches were delicious. The meat was very flavorful and juicy, and the pickled veggies had a nice blend of sweetness and acidity. It's hard to pick a favorite between the two, both were very tasty. If I had to choose one, I might lean more towards the Chicken just because that sweet and savory lemongrass flavor was superb. They also a couple drinks on the menu too like boba and Vietnamese coffee, but I was too full from my sandwich to get one. Service was quicker than I thought, and the portion size was very good.
