The service here is a true 10/10. The first person who greeted us was super nice and patient while we looked over the menu, and the woman who helped us was incredibly sweet and eager to accommodate our needs. As for the food--another total 10/10! The elotes completely blew me away. Taking a bite instantly brought me back to my childhood, eating elotes with my sisters and cousins. The food and the staff are wonderful--but a caution to the people who eat there and the business: the popular sauce has tree nuts. I was unaware and had taken a bite luckily stopping before I swallowed because something tasted funny--nuts in the sauce on basically everything. There was nothing mentioning this on the menu or any signs. Luckily I had my EpiPen and my tongue only swelled a little but I worry for people with far more severe allergies, especially children. The staff was so nice though, they brought out a nut free dish and were so apologetic and I really appreciated the care. Please for the sake of your customers and safety of your restaurant (legally and financially and reputationally) PLEASE put warnings and signage that one of your most popular and common sauces has nuts in it. Tree nuts, almond, peanuts... are all very common allergies and it's dangerous to omit this. read more

I stumbled across Maiz by chance, and before I even walked in, I was drawn in by the beautiful branding and colorful storefront. Once inside, the welcoming atmosphere made an even better first impression. The woman helping customers (who I think may have been the owner or manager) was incredibly kind, even while staying busy during the rush. If it's your first visit, you absolutely have to try the corn ribs. They're perfectly crispy, tender and seasoned so well- easily one of the most creative and delicious ways I've ever had corn. Don't skip the black sauce either; its smoky, slightly peppery flavor takes them to the next level. On my last visit they were sold out, so I tried the corn cheesecake instead. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it completely won me over. It was rich, creamy, melt-in-your-mouth delicious and the option to add lechera or chocolate made it even more fun. Maiz has such a unique way of turning a simple ingredient into something creative and memorable. Between the delicious food, thoughtful branding, and warm hospitality, it's become one of my favorite spots. This is a fun little restaurant off El Camino in Redwood City. Their speciality is elote! There is actually a surprising amount of items on the menu that aren't just straight up corn. We saw cake, tacos, birria, etc. When we went on a Sunday afternoon it was actually very full and people took all the tables inside! I was surprised. We tried the elote cake and I felt like it tasted like a nice sweet piece of cornbread. Emphasize sweet. They also had a condensed milk topping which was cool and fun to drizzle on the cake. Welcoming and vibrant new little spot in RWC. Friendly and helpful service when asking about the menu options. The dishes are prepared right in front of you. Love the touch to add toppings - a variety of peanuts and crushed chips. I went with the Doritos on top of my bowl with the added carne asada. ITS CORN! Very yummy! Got the elite bowl, taquitos, and elote cake! Lowkey kind of pricey but everything was delicious so i have no complaints, also the decor of the area was cute and they had nice outdoor seating! Parking lot is small tho FYI, but there's street parking available as well. I'd prob get the taquitos again! Cant remember the exact filling liked the most tho, so just pick ur fav meat or filling! Been driving by this place many times and excited to try it! Finally got the chance and it didn't disappoint at all!!! The corn was sweet and all the toppings were well balanced. You can choose your toppings after you order. Very delicious!!! We've been eyeing this place and finally tried it today. After reading one of the reviews we were worried about time since we had school pick up approaching. But they were super quick, no problems there. We tried the elote ribs - SPICY FANTASTIC! and the asado elote which comes with cheese and lime. Just perfect!!
