My partner had been raving about Cuco's Burritos, and I finally got to check it out! We visited for lunch on a Saturday and found them moderately busy. The interior was relatively small, with cheerful yellow walls and plants everywhere. However, we snagged a table on the little (dog-friendly) patio out back. Despite them being famous for burritos, I was really craving tacos, and ordered three - the Barbacoa, Carne Asada, and Shrimp. All three were phenomenal! The Carne Asada was so juicy and probably my favorite, although the well-seasoned shrimp were a close second. I also loved their complimentary salsa. My partner was a big fan of his Breakfast Burrito, and I couldn't resist also grabbing a cup of their homemade Rice Pudding, which was delightful. Craving some good burritos, my partner and I headed to Cuco's burritos in Redwood City. We ordered two burritos: the Californiano and the Ahogado de Carnitas. The Californiano was definitely one of the better breakfast burritos I've had. It was large and filled with so many great flavors. The Ahogado was insane. Literally swimming in a delicious tomato sauce, it was a struggle to eat. However, once you dig in, the generous portions are shocking. The burrito is stuffed with refried beans and a ton of carnitas. When you dine in they also give free chips and salsa which were so delicious. Though parking can be tough, this place is such a fun spot to check out. Food feels super authentic and it is delicious while being super generous in portion. read more

The sauce was a little salty but good. The burrito can definitely be a 2 person meal. It was good a filling. The service was as good as any restaurant. Stopped by to order a couple burritos and a quesadilla to go a couple days ago. Pros- friendly service, tasty food. There is a parking lot, but it's super small, so it was quite tight for my car (note: I do have a standard size SUV, so it's big!) Service was relatively fast, and from the vegetables in their fridge, you could see that they were using fresh ingredients, which is always a plus! Cons- the tortilla chips with salsa and guacamole were expensive! Small bags/containers, but charged around $5 dollars each. I'm ok with paying for guacamole, but I'm not a fan of Mexican spots that charge for chips and salsa. And feel that if they do, should be more generous in the size/portions that I'm paying for! My total order was just under $80 for 3 burritos, one quesadilla, guacamole and salsa...we should get chips automatically! Another thing that bothered me way more than the chips- the workers I could see all wore black gloves, but... they were also touching a lot of things - wiping down tables, picking up I believe their daughter, touching their face and head, taking care of the register, etc., without changing gloves. It did stand out, and not in a good way. It was something I wished I hadn't seen for sure. So while the burrito I had was tasty, I'm not sure I'd go back. read more

Cuco's is hands down one of my favorite spots to get a super burrito. It's always beautifully and neatly wrapped, full of flavor, and perfect ratio of ingredients. I've tried their tacos, breakfast burrito, and California burrito but the super burrito with carne asada is still my favorite. O.M.G. THE MOLE SAUCE. IT IS SO GOOD! I don't even like mole sauce much, and the things I would do for this mole sauce... I don't know why they gatekeep the mole sauce to the vegetarian burrito, but I really wish they had it for the non-veggie burritos too! I basically forced my husband to get the veggie burrito with mole sauce I could "share" it with him. I got the carne asada burrito, and it certainly was no slouch. BUT WITH THE MOLE SAUCE?! It's sooooooo good! The ladies in the restaurant were all super friendly, and they gave us chips with salsa on the house. Had a carne asada California burrito and a Diablo (shrimp burrito). Both were very fresh tasting and not as oily as other Mexican places. The to-go orders were very neat and had toasted tortillas which I really enjoy. The California burrito was ok, I would prefer the fries to be more fried as they were a bit mushy and didn't have that crunch that I was expecting. I think it was missing some sauce with a bit of kick. Nothing else to really write home about. The Diablo was unique. It had a special Spanish rice that was a bit spicy and the shrimp really added a juicy flavor that I really enjoyed. Definitely would get this again. Overall if you like a less greasy Mexican place I works recommend the Diablo. Not too spicy but definitely interesting. Will have to come back in person at some point! read more

I have also ordered their chicken burrito which is equally as amazing. I recently tried a "De Chipotle" Burrito with Chicken. I ate it in Cuco's and was pleasantly surprised to see they serve free chips and salsa when you eat there. The burrito was incredible and I would highly recommend trying it. Cuco's clearly serves a great variety of wet burritos, so eating there is probably better. The issue is eating there isn't the best experience. It is set up as more of a to-go place. Wet burritos aren't the best items to-go, so there is the dilemma. Got the A La Diabla De Cameron with refried beans added and ooooomg. The rice was perfectly cooked, shrimp was AMAAAAAZING and not rubbery at all, the sauce was sooooo delicious. This is my new go to spot here in the Bay Area. Honestly have never had a better burrito outside of my old spot in San Jose that closed down. 10/10 by far. The reviews don't lie. There was 1 month stretch where my wife and I ordered the californiano every weekend for breakfast, and we didn't get sick of it. Perfectly scrambled eggs that are a little running instead of rubbery or overcooked. Great quality Pico de gallo, sour cream, cheese, and sauce mix in your mouth to make a magical bite each time. One of my cousins is vegan so it was perfect to see that Cuco's had a couple of vegan options. Food ordered: All items came with a side of chips and salsa. The chips were so good and crunchy and you can tell they are made of tortilla since they are thicker (which I love). 1. Chicken Super Burrito (3/5) The chicken in the super burrito was a little plain on its own if you got a bite of just that, as the flavors weren't super melded together. However, all the ingredients tasted really fresh and not salty which I feel a lot of burritos can be. Also loved that all burritos come grilled and in a little parchment sleeve. 2. Steak Super Burrito (4/5) The steak in the super burrito was more flavorful and I felt that the flavors of the ingredients melded better in this. 3. Veggie Quesadilla (4/5) The veggie quesadilla had so much flavor and the filling was savory and yummy. I'd reorder this. Overall, the food was delicious, and the chips were one of my favorites from a restaurant. The flavors tasted more clean and less spiced than other burrito places which I personally don't prefer as much, but for a solid burrito that you won't feel heavy after enjoying, this is for you.
