If you are…read moretraveling by car and you want to escape the noise and bustle of the city, then "Parva Sed Apta" is perfect. We pulled up in the late evening. A cow peered at us over the hedge and a cat was hunting in the long grass, and I loved the place immediately. We stayed just one night, en route from a business trip to the antiques market in Tongeren. "Para Sed Apta" is well situated to visit the market in Tongeren, since it is fifteen minutes away by car. For those who love antiques, it is an excellent choice since the house is venerable and the rooms are furnished with vintage items. It was one of the most personable, peaceful and idyllic B&B's I've ever booked. In the evening my husband and I walked across the fields and through the village to the local pub, a brasserie named "de Gouden Tak." We hesitated outside due to its somewhat unprepossessing appearance, but the food was unexpectedly good and the wine was even better. It was lovely to be able to walk to the pub and back to "Parva Sed Apta." My husband enjoyed the reliable wifi and the freely flowing coffee and tea at breakfast. I loved the red checked tablecloth, the candles, the vintage tea set, and the decor in general. Highly to be recommended.

It was the perfect balance of everything. We were in room 218 & had a wonderful unobstructed view of the church steeple. The room was beautiful, clean and had updated modern/elegant finishes. The shower and bathtubs were luxurious. The only thing may be that not everyone is comfortable with glass showcasing the tub. I was sharing the room with my daughter and she would have preferred privacy in her bathtub. We loved the menu options of additional pillows we could request - we tried the "zen" pillows and they were fabulous!

My wife and I enjoyed our night though as a previous reviewer wrote, the floors can be a bit squeaky so we were able to sometimes hear our neighbors directly above us. The location is fantastic as there are plenty of shopping areas and restaurants. You're only a short walk to the historic downtown area as well as the train station. Parking is located about 50 meters from the hotel and the cost is 24 Euro for the night. The breakfast is 21 Euro which is a bit pricey but the food and service was excellent. The staff made omelets and freshly squeezed orange juice. If you're looking to save a few Euro there are plenty of breakfast options in the area. The room itself was very modern and comfortable and should we find ourselves back in the area we would stay here again.

It is not the best ever but if traveling and don't need super fancy then it will suit your needs very well. The Spa is surprisingly good but the service is less than to be desired. They have a gym that is for use but there is consistently classes scheduled throughout the day that is not mentioned on the website or in handbook. One must first check with front desk to see what time classes are for the day so you can plan a workout around the random classes, very frustrating to go downstairs for a workout only to find you must wait until class is finished. They have a massage therapist, that doesn't take clients. Not for nothing, what kind of spa has a massage therapist that doesn't take clients? The room service is fine, but when I asked the maids to come back in 5 minutes as I was leaving for workout expecting to come back to a clean room, they conveniently decided to not come back to room and not clean it at all. Would have loved to give this 5 starts but the maids and spa took away a point each.
