I discovered this chocolatier on a food tour through the Montmartre area. The chocolate was so incredible in flavor and quality that my husband and I ended up visiting the other 2 locations during our stay in Paris. The "Meilleur Ouvrier de France" sign outside the store indicates Georges Larnicol competed to produce a masterpiece in his trade and won the title of one of the best artisans in France- impressive! The store has a section of specially crafted chocolates that you can bag/box yourself and pay by weight. I loved the little crepes inside a chocolate shell- perfectly balanced texture of creamy and crunchy (forgot the actual name, I was too busy trying everything!). There are also many good options for pre packaged treats you can buy as a gift. We kept buying "gifts" for our friends and ended up eating them, hence the multiple visits to restock on our supply of Georges Larnicol goodies. One of the most impressive things here is a detailed model of Notre Dame sculpted entirely out of chocolate. We were well taken care of by workers at each location with our purchases. Our friends all had great things to say about the treats we bought them!

Macarons are the more traditional n less flavors and maybe a little heavier than Pierre Hermé macarons, but the customer service was friendly with no attitude that I got at the PH store off of Rue Rivoli. & much cheaper! The chocolates are rich & divine! Loved the raspberry jam-filled chocolates. Salesclerk said the macarons are GF, but the chocolates are not. The kouignettes were a little too sticky sweet and not that fresh-tasting which my mom agreed on: pass. Go to check out the incredible chocolate sculptures even if you don't buy!

My five star rating is totally Biased!!! Yes, it is because it is based entirely on the thing I think they do best... Kouign Amann and the Kouignettes. You can get chocolates and macarons all over Paris, so why concentrate on those items here? Grab a big bag and just fill it with Kouignettes and if you don't like them I'm not sure what you were doing in a place like that in the first place LOL! They were one of the culinary highlights of my trip to Paris! I ate my Salted caramel Kouignette on the plane back and seriously had there not been a drinks trolley between me and myself and the cockpit I would have... Dare I say it without a team of black ops crashing through my window... I would have hijacked the plane and made it turn around just to go back and get more of these. Better still I have since found that they deliver internationally... now all I have to do is rob a bank and have these delivered at least once a week! I guess what I am trying to say. If you are in Monmartre and are going up to the Sacré-Coeur do pop in and try these! I also bought some cake pops, they were filled with marzipan, I don't like marzipan, but I don't care because I loved the Kouignette. They come in a variety of flavours so I am sure there is something for everyone. ( Plain, almond, salted caramel, Chocolate, lemon, raspberry, orange Cointreau, Pistachio and Rum & Raisin) They also make yummy Torchettes, galettes and caramels. My bf is still working his way through his giant chocolate lolly! I can not comment on the chocolates and pralines they looked pretty but something told me that I wouldn't be blown away by them so I stuck to what I thought gives this place it's kudos! P.S. I should mention also that there are some chocolate sculptures on display.

This is the touristy location of Maison Georges Larnicol in Montmarte and that's not a bad thing. Previously, I went to another Maison Georges Larnicol and felt totally intimidated. The shop was cold and unfriendly and I left empty handed. The Montmarte location is filled with people and amazing chocolate displays. You'll be throwing your euros at the cash register in exchange for chocolates in no time. I wish I understood more French, as all the signs were in French. No fret, I just grabbed a plastic bag and started filling my bag with tiny chocolates and candies. I had no idea what I was buying but the tiny egg shaped chocolates (OEUFS de goelands praline craquant) turned out to be divine and I wish I had bought more. I also bought two kouignettes (chocolate and a rhum-raisin). They were very hard and sugary. They were just okay. If anything, just super cute. The macarons looked unappetizing and a lot of the things here were gimmicky but good for presents (chocolate molded into red high heels for example). My one wish would be to buy the petit pots de caramel au beurre sale and bring them back to the states. I had carry-on luggage only and was not going to check in any baggage. They looked delightful though. This is a fun chocolate shop to visit and their chocolate bits are really good.

What a cool shop! I think it is place for the sweet lovers. There are local different kind of the sweet in the house. Some of them just look really funky to me, I wonder, the taste of those. And you can find the most famous and popular sweet here. This is like a paradise of Kouginettes and Macarons. Many different favours can choose from. I also feel like some of the sweet here just too beautiful to be eaten. Inside this shop, there are also some really amazing hand works waiting for you to admire or photograph. The shop is really big as well. I don't want to spoiled too much, better check this place out when you need by. The staff are super nice here. If you are looking for something perticular, just ask simply. They won't hesitate to help. The location of this place also made it really popular. Always lots people come and go. That kinda speak for the brand itself. Cool shop worth to check out.

Very rude workers here, maybe just to tourists? But I did not enjoy the way I was treated and would have left if I wasn't on a time crunch to buy macarons. The macarons are very reasonably priced .80€ per macaron but with a box they are 1€ each. There are only 9 flavors I believe and they are decent, not the greatest but not bad either. They do have a ton of chocolate that looked yummy but I didn't get the chance to try it!

I have a fever and the only prescription is more chocolates. This place is definitely the cure. It is a whole new world, like the Willy Wonka factory, but for the more mature taste. It's not just a delight for the taste, but for the eyes. I mean, from the amazing chocolate sculptures, to the macaroons, to the endless flavors of chocolate, makes me ask "Why? Why do I not live here in Montmartre?" One bite of any chocolate concoction makes you close your eyes and pause the world for a moment. My only regret is that I didn't buy more.

Some of their tasty macarons on display.

Mini-macaroons were a great price, but they didn't taste that great. I wouldn't go back. Instead try Pierre Hermes or Eric Kayser.

The store is fairly spacious, and they have a large display right at the front of their signature cookies. They have numerous varieties, so grab a plastic glove and put your selections into a bag. If you get 900 grams of cookies you will get a tin included. They have a large variety of cookies from basic chocolate to fig or apple-filled. These are different from American cookies and have a crumbly consistency like shortbread and a mild, less-sweet flavor. They are delicate and delicious! The filled cookies have a light fruity filling which is just perfect. They have a large variety of other items too including madelines and candies and gift items. The staff spoke great English and were very friendly and happy to help. Definitely visit for these unique French cookies, and you too many be hunting for these boutiques wherever you travel!

Angelina, Paris, France -- April 12…read more Our family of four with kids ages 9 and 10 stopped here for lunch after visiting the Louvre, drawn in by its reputation for having the best hot chocolate in the world. We were looking for a place to relax and refuel, and the experience felt a bit mixed overall. Arrival and First Impressions The space is elegant with classic Parisian charm. The line moved quickly, and we were seated with a great view of the dining room. It felt refined but still comfortable. The Highlights The famous hot chocolate lived up to expectations, thick, rich, and almost more like a dessert than a drink. We also had French onion soup and an éclair, both of which were very good. The pastries were clearly well made and thoughtfully prepared. The kids had chicken tenders, which they enjoyed, even though the tomato sauce was a bit different from what they expected. The Challenges The biggest drawback was the price. The meal felt expensive for what we ordered, coming in at €154 for a fairly simple lunch. Service felt slightly rushed as they moved tables along quickly. Final Thoughts We would likely return if we were nearby and specifically craving the hot chocolate again. It is a classic Paris stop and worth trying once, but the value may not justify going out of your way unless that signature experience is high on your list.

It really tastes like melted chocolate with a bit of milk mixed in to make it more drinkable. We went at a bit of an off time, late morning and it wasn't overly busy. We saw our server once and I couldn't recall who he was when it came time to get the bill. I asked a hostess walking by for our check and she told me to ask our server while walking away. We were able to flag another server down eventually but the whole process just took too long. The tables for four have chairs that don't quite tuck in causing for a bit awkward seating. If you like really thick hot chocolate, give it a try but otherwise ok to miss this one. Plenty of good hot chocolate throughout the city.
