The food is fresh, delicious, served well and consistently excellent. The meals are generous with side garnishes that mean you don;t have to order extras unless you want to. Generally we spend about $100 for two including a good wine and a shared appetiser or dessert - not cheap but excellent value - fine dining without the fuss. The staff are are a friendly family who go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome and special. We love it (but hope it doesn't become too popular that we can't get a table each week!!)

I had hogget taco and my partner had pork taco. Kinda small, and not presented that well. Meat looked dry. However it was quite tasty but could have had more flavour and the tortilla corn taco an overwhelming taste. Corn and nectarine side salad very fresh and tasty. Although not sure that two thin slices of nectarine really qualify as top billing. Amazing chocolate honey drizzle cake. Mixed messages from staff. Some very nice, some dismissive. So 50/50 on everything. Would go back if friends wanted to but would make that choice on my own.

Relish has excellent wholesome tasty food. They do lots of counter foods plus breakfast favourites from eggs bennie to kedgeree. Our personal favs are the ginger & rhubarb muffins. Warmth, friendliness, excellent food and good old fashioned service. June 2018. Wrote the above review a few years ago. Once you step in you immediately relax as there's something familiar about it. Everyone smiles, the staff are laid back and polite, the tables and the decor are what you'd expect in a batch by the beach. The food is always fresh. I highly recommend the seafood chowder and I suggest you try the Sacred Water (house brew). They have separate menus for brunch and dinner and there's something for everyone. The cuisine is Mediterranean / European so it's usually light but consistent. Waimea Cafe is one of my favourites places in the Wellington region!
