Mainport Hotel is a Hilton affiliate. We stayed here for 3 nights when we visited Rotterdam and chose the King City XL room. The room was large, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was nice (it had a whirlpool tub, walk-in shower and mirror TV). We did not dine in the restaurant but we did visit the bar for drinks and had a fun time. The hotel is located on the river Maas so it was beautiful seeing the views coming down the elevator each morning. It is also in a really good location to walk to places and to access public transit or a water taxi. read more

Front desk was efficient but not very warm or friendly. The room was beautiful and we had high hopes, but the air conditioner did not work and it was one of the hottest days in Rotterdam. Management came up and fiddled with the thermostat and said give it an hour, but nothing changed. We could not enjoy the sauna or the Jacuzzi tub because it was just too stinking hot. Their WiFi does not work and they aren't helpful to fix it. Their phone in the room also doesn't work so you have to go downstairs to lobby when you have a problem. The guy who works at night shift isn't helpful. I stayed at many 5-Star hotels. This isn't a 5-star hotel. read more

This hotel is a Design Hotels member and is so dark and dingy you almost need a flashlight at night. The beds and pillows are very uncomfortable and lumpy you better be careful going to the toilet/shower as there's a big lip you are sure to trip on countless times! They have no bar soaps only those dreadful wall mounted shower gel! When you shower the bathroom floor becomes a lake again you need to be careful not to fall. It's a personal injury lawyers dream as there are so many issues and they care so little. The minibar I got charged for items missing on checkin and never replaced. I will finish this disastrous stay with the TV it sucked plane and simple no CNN and intermittent service at best because of their great internet service. Go elsewhere this hotel sucks top to bottom!! Beware Marriott dumped them and they will be a Hilton property in a few weeks read more

This was probably the nicest hotel in a long trip to Europe. The room was huge and immaculate. It was in short walking distance to a lot of nice sites and places to eat. The bus stop was nearby. Our room even had a jacuzzi bathtub and a large shower. The price was very reasonable, but it might have been low due to covid. One negative was the price and quality of the food at the restaurant. Bold and colorful on white walls BATHROOM: modern, love the Jacuzzi and bath salt. Perfect ending for. Relaxing night. BUT hate the shower. Small, and awkwardly water splash every where. Try to stay in different corner to avoid the splash but still the same. Luckily, I only stated for two night and can deal with it. TOILET: nicely separate from bathroom. AMENITIES: very good. Could use more larger foot towels since eater splash everywhere. OVERALL : very nice, love to come back to this hotel! read more

My second stay here. The first time -- I ordered room service before my morning flight and nearly missed our train because the room service never showed up. That was an incredibly frustrating experience last June. Although my room last time had a sauna. Not this time and that's ok because the bath tub was delightful. This time, I didn't do room service and just dined at the restaurant. The food at the Down Under is exceptional. The continental breakfast was satisfying. Room was comfy with ideal amenities. Down Under restaurant staff was always so attentive and highly professional--thank you restaurant staff! Only issue for me as an American is the toilet room was separated from the rest of the bathroom. You basically had to walk around the corner to wash your hands after using the John. Not convenient nor does it optimize hygiene. I'll continually go to this hotel whenever I'm in Rotterdam. read more

If you stay in Rotterdam and appreciate some Luxury, comfort and design the Mainport hotel is one of the few options. Located at the Leuvehaven, a small harbor which looks like a museum. It is actually located next to the maritime museum and also offers a view over the Erasmus bridge that crosses the Maas River to the other side of town. Well located also for shopping and sight seeing. Even though the hotel claims to be five stars, I still have a four star feeling, or okay... four star plus. If you follow the book, yes, they might be five star with a great Spa, swimming pool, bar, restaurant etc. The rooms offer all you need, but are not really spacious. We had a spa room with sauna and whirlpool, very ok and the view is great. The room offers all amenities you might require, most of them for a price by the way, like a love kit (aka condom) or a fifty shades kit ;-). Everything is being thought of, which I like, but... It all comes with a price. They state it nicely, like 'would you like to take one home, we offer a brand new one at the reception' or 'opening is buying'. Very foolproof. Feels a bit like a room full of boobytraps . Even the mineral water, which I expect being complimentary at a five star hotel costs you 4,95 euro, but well, we are in the Netherlands and the tap water here is the best drinking water you can get around the world, so why bother. Then the service, and maybe that makes some of the 4 versus 5 stars experience happen. A lot of young people, probably still hotel school students. Not always very attentive or even giving you a welcome feeling. They just do their chores, not making real eye contact, etc. There was one very friendly housekeeping lady who gave me a totally different experience. She knows how to make quests feel like guests, always greeting and wishing us a good trip back home when we were walking towards the elevator with our suitcases. I hope the manager notices she is one of the few people working there who understands what hospitality means. Not that the others are rude, but they are just doing their job, not more. And the 'more' is what makes a five star experience. Breakfast is great by the way. With real honey from a honeycomb. But...also here, due to the setting, type of tables and service, for me the experience is not really five star. But I am terribly spoilt . read more

A really great hotel. Its very modern and has a Sauna and spa bath in the room. The hotel lobby had a great bar downstairs and one of the bartenders is a specialist in cocktails. Had one of the best Vodka Martinis in the world here. Has a very decent selection of scotch too. The breakfast buffet is very good with custom order eggs or pancakes if you want it. The subway just outside is very convenient too. Getting to Rotterdam Centraal is a breeze as its just 2 stops away. The rooms were very tidy and maintenance was second to none. My only criticism is they don't offer water (except if you buy the absurdly priced one from the minibar). If I get back to Rotterdam, this is definitely the place I will stay. read more

"SPG status not really Recognized " So I have stayed at this hotel several times in the past but I recently became a Platinum SPG member and they are offering a reward to members who stay at all the SPG brands this year so I thought since Design hotels just joined the franchise I would give the Mainport another shoot. When I checked in the manager said in fact we weren't eligible for our benefits that Design hotels and SPG are just "marketing partners" she showed me some piece of paper with the design hotel basically giving no benefits to their most loyal guests! I had wanted a suite upgrade, I was denied and told by the manager that they would rather sell it then give it to a loyal SPG member as a perk.... I stayed 6 nights and the suite stayed empty the entire time (I checked daily for my own information) I feel deceived, the only reason I booked this hotel was for the platinum benefits! Anyways I sucked it up for my stay, the FD staff are sort of cold and unfriendly and so was the manager trying nothing to try and make us feel welcomed or comfortable. My husband ordered a hamburger from the restaurant and when asked how he wanted it he said "well" when it came out it was a charcoal brick, absolutely uneatable! We showed our waiter he said well you wanted it that way! They made my husband a new one, that one came out raw and he told the waiter, he again blamed my husband saying he obviously wanted that way because he didn't want the burnt charcoal! We decided to leave and order food online! Totally horrible to mess up a burger twice, make us sit around hungry for 1.5hrs and then let us just leave without trying to do something to make it right!!! No follow up, nothing!!! And this is only the icing on top of the cake for the restaurant, I've had several bad food experiences at this hotel but this was the most recent! After the whole ordeal I got my points from SPG for the stay and they were completely wrong I was only given 175points instead of the 4,000 I was owed, I then had to spend over 1 hour with SPG CS to get them to allocate the points I was originally owed!!! Terrible service, terrible SPG partners but redeeming quality is the rooms, the rooms are very nice and I would have gave these guys a more favorable review if they would put more effort into Customer Service! Fantastic hotel in Rotterdam. Everything was great, from friendly staff to comfortable big clean rooms to the spa. The spa was so good with the steam room, sauna and pool plus area for treatments. Can't wait to return! read more

It's called the Mainport Design Hotel and thats exactly what it is. Very well designed inside and very spacious...personell is very polite and well dressed. It's expensive but not too expensive. read more

This hotel is the real deal. Excellent rooms that comes with built in jacuzzis, TV's on the wall above the sink in the bathroom, very fancy fridge with drinks and snacks provided although they don't come for free and the rest of the hotel is just; wow. Swimming pool, TWO gyms, TWO saunas, relaxing spa, steam room, plenty of showers and locker spaces, fantastic breakfast buffet, and just excellent service really serves this place well. For any foreigners visiting, best recommendation I could give on where to stay. Yes it's pricey for a 5 star hotel, but if you want to live your life to the fullest on your vacation to Rotterdam, why not stop here? read more
