While the outdoor space itself is a little rough-hewn, the displayed pieces are often intriguing, well-made, and beautiful. The Barn focuses on local artists and artisans, mostly from Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts, and has a juried art competition during the summer months. We are often quite impressed with the quality of the works exhibited. (All of the works are available for purchase.) The staff is knowledgeable and friendly -- there is no pressure to buy -- and the Barn in fact feels more like a museum than a retail gallery (it is a non-profit), except there is no permanent collection. We always feel welcome to visit and browse without any obligation to purchase. The Barn also hosts many workshops and seminars by local artists -- perfect for a quiet summer's eve!

'21, my husband wanted to pay it forward with a gift. You'll find T-shirt and gift shops here in town- but what you won't get are tacky, cookie-cutter, souvenirs. Ogunquit, is nothing like that. Away from super-busy Shore Rd, Jack Duford's Hutchins House Arts is located on the opposite end in Perkins Cove. My husband is a Navy man so he was all smieyes when he first noticed the Maritime items and model boats by the window on our way to breakfast a few feet away. Not only will you find Jack Duford's own simple yet stunning seascape and spectacular sailing photographs here, but there's also a local artist collective who share the same Maritime passion, showcase their paintings and sell some home related items also under one roof. The photographs and fine art images here are unique. Service was great from Jack and was kind to bubble-wrap the frames my husband picked out for my two sisters. Paying $100 for both frames may seem like a lot, but whether they're for us or my sisters in this case, the images will last a lifetime.

Theres limited parking, but an overflow lot helps. Even as you walk across to the entrance door, you'll see some artwork in the gardens. Inside, there are multiple rooms and the exhibits change throughout the year. The signage and commentary is excellent, and it's very well curated. The best part is the sculpture garden out the back, but the views of the ocean are quite distracting - so make sure you save time to wander around and take it all in! OMAA is well worth the visit.

I liked that these exhibits didn't just feature art that was conventionally pretty, but rather featured works that were more provocative. This surprised me considering the museum is relatively small; I expected more traditional and old-fashioned works. I felt like each piece challenged the idea of what it truly means to be American. As an added bonus, the museum grounds are GORGEOUS. They are a must-explore when visiting Ogunquit. Next time I will bring a picnic blanket and plan to spend the day there. I think you can even take a dip in the ocean on their pebble beach. Overall such an amazing experience.

Chris represents primarily local artists in the Maine/Mass/NH area and has a unique collection and taste. I've obtained some of my favorite paintings from his shop. No pretensions and no pressure to buy; Chris is also very happy to discuss the backgrounds and styles of the artists - and once he gets to know you, also willing to give favored pricing, discounts, or deals. I don't buy every time I visit, but Van Ward's been a favorite and de rigueur stop on our annual Maine vacations.

She looks at my dog and her service vest and says "she needs to wait outside, my dog is very aggressive and doesn't like other dogs...".I told that no, my dog can't "just wait outside, she needs stay with me". She looked expectantly at me, and I certainly do not want to be where I am not wanted. I said that my service dog and I can both outside, she said "yes, that would be best". I was stunned. Could I have made a big stink and told her what she was doing was against the law? Absolutely, and I will definitely do that when the person seems to truly be uneducated about the rights and responsibilities service dogs. She is definitely not the embodiment of my experience in Olgunquit thankfully I wish this merchant education and enlightenment.
