This lovely little museum should be on every visitor's list of things to do in Ogunquit, Maine…read more Features mostly local artists and a few who have some tie to the area. I was surprised to see works by a man I'd thought of as a Western New York artist, Charles Burchfield. Out the back door of OMAA you will find marvelous views of the ocean, a great place to sit and ponder life and art.

If it did, and if the scale went low enough, it might begin to capture just how awful this supposed museum is. This is not a Museum of American Art. Far from it. It is a monument to grievance culture: a series of bitter, ideological exhibits filled with contempt rather than appreciation. It views everything through the one-sided and false prism of racism and left-wing propaganda, while carefully avoiding anything that might actually celebrate America or its art. It is not merely a waste of space; it is a cesspool of resentment and loathing. Do not waste your time unless you are trying to understand how Maine could give 72% of a statewide primary vote to a candidate associated with the "Totenkopf," while the Nazi Party itself never exceeded 44% of the vote in Germany. This museum helps explain how captured institutions, falsely marketed as cultural, educational, or artistic, can produce that kind of result.

Unfortunately, I cannot give negative stars. We were visiting Ogunquit today. I was so impressed by…read morethis quaint town It is such a sweet and charming town. The people were so lovely that I was lulled into sense peaceful enjoyment...BUT, as I entered this store with my service dog, who is wearing her clearly marked service vest, the owner comes from around the corner. As she comes toward me, so does her aggressive dog. She looks at my dog and her service vest and says "she needs to wait outside, my dog is very aggressive and doesn't like other dogs...".I told that no, my dog can't "just wait outside, she needs stay with me". She looked expectantly at me, and I certainly do not want to be where I am not wanted. I said that my service dog and I can both outside, she said "yes, that would be best". I was stunned. Could I have made a big stink and told her what she was doing was against the law? Absolutely, and I will definitely do that when the person seems to truly be uneducated about the rights and responsibilities service dogs. This was definitely not that we were inconvenient to her in her store, and she wanted us out plain and simple. The owner was rude and dismissive. She is definitely not the embodiment of my experience in Olgunquit thankfully I wish this merchant education and enlightenment.

If you want get a gift for someone and are in the area, you need to go here. They got minus one star because of their mystery ribbon ball. My daughter bought this item for a little over $10 and it was suppose to have several surprise gifts in it. Suffice it say, the "gifts" were not worth it and she learned a valuable lesson.

There's a huge carpet in the middle of the room (at least with the current setup) but I can see how artificial walls could easily be brought in to make even more wall space. Having said that, it would also be a great space for sculptures. The woman working at the desk seemed very friendly, though I did not take the opportunity to chat with her much. I do feel like it's a bit of shame it's in the middle of a strip mall next to Shaw's, but we can't all land primo real estate I guess. Having said that, it's a perfect opportunity to drop by once every couple weeks before/after your grocery shopping. I believe I will do this in the future!

They are welcoming, not intimidating, and the Falmouth gallery has plenty of parking. The line up is always different at the Portland gallery than the Falmouth gallery. Both offer insights into Maine's artist community at the highest levels. Elizabeth is the right person to advise you on choosing art that works for you in your space-- office or home. Their framing services are top notch, but it's the art I go for. I make a point of visiting the galleries regularly. The shows change about once a month and even when I don't want to take any piece home, I do find the work intriguing.
