I was worried about my last minute planning with the whole Mother's Day bouquet. I was distracted by an unplanned work trip and ended up calling the Friday before. My usual florist turned me down. I started sweating. I felt like a bad daughter. I mean, I sent a card, but no one cares about those. Like, thanks for life, mom, here's a card? Momo deserves more than a card and we don't live in the same state, so I can't take her to brunch or surprise her with some random mother-daughter activity, which is my favorite thing to do. I was determined to call every florist on Yelp, but thankfully, I only had to make one more call. The woman on the phone was sweet as honey. I don't even remember who my old florist was, cause I'm never calling them again. Thank you for saving me, Florabella. You just made my weekend.

For the longest time, I relied on Florabella to provide me with creative arrangements made from what were often unusual and difficult-to-find flowers. The business was well-organized and kept its schedule reliably, attractive traits to a nerd such as myself, and it sold its creations at a reasonable price. I could drop off a vase at the shop, conveniently located in Bay Ho, and, a few days later, either pick up my flowers or have them delivered to my house. However, by fall of 2019, owners Sarah Newstead and Jennifer Bull were gone, and the shop had moved from San Diego to Coronado Island, a virtual world away from the one I inhabit. Prices had risen, phone calls were no longer promptly returned, and the whole enterprise began to feel desperate and amateurish, like Mom had left the kids in charge, and maybe they were in a little over their heads. So I've stopped using Florabella, because, in the immortal words of Kimberly "Sweet Brown" Wilkins, "Ain't nobody got time for that." I grant that some of my hesitation may stem from an age-related aversion to change, and that your experience with the "new" Florabella may differ from mine, but, nevertheless, buyer beware and all that...

Florabella - This top rose isn't even the worst but it definitely won't last much past tomorrow.

I called 3 or 4 floral stores that told me it was to late in the day and would be closing soon. Everything was completed over the phone and the flowers were delivered within 2 hrs. Impressive.

I typically will send flowers for birthdays and mother's day. The flower arrangements are on the pricier side, but for the quality I would say it is worth it especially since they are a small business. The online ordering experience is efficient and smooth as well, and in the past I typically have received both order and delivery confirmations. However, I did not receive a delivery confirmation for my most recent order so I decided to call the store directly and left a voicemail. The owner got back to me promptly, and did inform me that the delivery was made. I will say when I was speaking to the owner on the phone they did have quite a negative tone, and was defensive when I was simply asking about a delivery confirmation and/or if I should contact the recipient directly to ensure they received their flowers. While I understand that running a business can be stressful, it does not excuse rude or dismissive behavior toward customers. As a business owner, professionalism, courtesy, and respect should be priorities. I sincerely hope the owner reflects on how they interact with customers and makes an effort to create a more welcoming environment.
