Nice atmosphere. Staff was friendly and inviting. Menu options were plentiful. Had breakfast with all meat omelet and a basic egg, meat and pancake. Pancakes are the size of the plates! Cute establishment in the heart of Somerville! We were greeted with wonderful Southern hospitality from the second we walked in, received personable service throughout the entire meal, and were served delicious home-style meals with farm-to-table fresh ingredients! The specialty coffees were also delicious! There are daily and monthly specials, too! Breakfast all day, but delicious lunch options available too (including a GF menu). Very slow Service . No seasoning on food. One of our patty melts tasted like it had been sitting there for a while. Mold on the blueberries in the fruit cup. Salad was soggy and had a strange pink tint. Soup was not hot when served. Overall so disappointed. Won't be back. read more

A family owned restaurant in Somerville that is wonderful! They have a specialty pancake each month. The pumpkin pancakes this month are amazing and I am looking forward to trying the white chocolate cranberry pancakes next month. The pancake batter is great and I have no doubts that their plain pancakes with syrup are amazing too. For breakfast, they bring out a basket of mini biscuits with butter and jelly. Their version of chips and salsa. LOL If you are in Somerville for breakfast, give them a try. The lunch menu sounds good and we hope to try that sometime soon. read more

I feel bad. I'm torn. My folks raved about this place and they were excited to take us here. We drove quite a bit out of the way and my first impression was positive...cute little country-kitchen decor with homemade southern fare run by a family. This is really more of a one or two star review...and I struggled for the bright spots. So yes - the place is cute...but if you want actual southern breakfast/lunch/brunch type food, you'll need to visit on Saturday mornings. We were there for lunch on a weekday and the menu was extremely limited. I opted for a grilled chicken salad (smaller size)...which was served in a medium sized deep bowl.... of mostly iceberg lettuce.... that was hard to get at without making a mess. Others at the table had the chicken salad, reuben and mixed veggie plate (black-eyed peas, creamed corn and lima beans). We shared the blackberry cobbler for dessert. They usually have many desserts to choose from but this particular day they didn't. The best reviews came from the reuben. The cobbler was decent. The chicken salad was not my cup of tea...the ratio of mayo to chicken is off the hook. Too much mayo...and I do like mayo. But this was more of a, "would you like some chicken with your mayonnaise"? One other thing....there were very young children helping to clear, bus and clean tables. At first, I thought it was cute and awesome that these kids were helping out. But then I saw one of them with a (very) dirty, (very) wet rag wiping down an already dirty table - schmearing the previous guests food remnants along the surface...ultimately pushing chunks on the floor... and then placing perfectly clean utensil roll-ups on top of said tables. Health department, anyone? According to my folks, we hit them on an off day. So...while my experience was lackluster, perhaps they were really just having a bad day. read more

Such a wonderful little Eatery right on the Somerville Square! The atmosphere and decor is adorable and the hospitality and food are excellent! So I was in Somerville this morning to be part of the commemorations for 9/11. Under a bit of a time crunch a few of us dropped in here to grab breakfast. Let's run it down: The staff were doing all they could to get set up out front for the Cotton Festival, all the while, attending to customers coming in. They went out of their way to make sure we were attended to...fixing decaf coffee when there was none already brewed, suggesting items from the menu, answering questions about items on the menu, etc. Not only that, I noticed the shirts they were selling and one staff member was wearing a sweatshirt...when I asked about the sweatshirt...they had one in my wife's size! Excellent. And last, but not least, the food. OMG! This place is a mom & pop style setup. Not a chain restaurant. Keeping a staff on hand and running a great kitchen is nothing to mock. It's difficult, especially these days. So happy to see this place soldiering on and serving up great food with smiles on their faces! read more

The French toast was amazing- not your standard stuff- but filled with that custardy goodness that comes from soaking it overnight. And the bacon-Gouda grits were delicious! We had a wonderfully friendly server named Hazel. This is such a comfortable spot to eat at. The family that owns it and works here are more than friendly. They've done a wonderful job of bringing such an old building back to life. We need small businesses like this in our community and we need great people like these to run them. This is a breakfast and lunch only diner, and not on Sunday. The hot foods are not available on Saturday. They offer wraps, sandwiches, soups, salads, cakes, pies, you name it. Even breakfast! I hear the French toast is great. I don't know yet what all the hot plates are. She did tell me they are careful not to put pork or beef fat into their veggies in consideration of the meat haters. I was picking up lunch to-go and they brought me a sample of the chicken salad. Man was it good. They also serve bread from Backermann's bakery. That bread is the best of the best. Then she brings me a cinnamon roll that made such an impression that I bought 2 more. They make their own dough for the cinnamon roll and the icing tasted more homemade than anything I've had before. I bought 3 Cordon Bleu wraps with ranch instead of honey mustard. They were light and refreshing, yet they hit the spot. I loved their version of it too with the chicken, cheese, and ham. At this point, I cannot think of anything negative to say, so I must leave 5 stars. I'll try to get breakfast next Saturday. 12/1/16 Well I didn't make it to breakfast on Saturday, but the wife and I did lunch here. I was impressed to see them draw such a crowd. Yum Yum Yum! Stumbled upon this gem on a road trip and was not disappointed! A perfect lunch that wasn't overly filling but still tasted great. Went here on a Sat for brunch with a party of 4. The server who took our drink was quick. I order a coffee everyone else had sweet tea. They received their orders quick. Mine came luke warm no creamer. I asked twice for creamer it was finally brought to me when our food arrived. All of our orders somerhing was wrong with. My husband didn't get his side of home fries. My French toast was raw, eggs were runny, bacon was burnt. Our friend missed two things off his order. The other order was blland no flavor. I will need come back here again. read more

Looking for new places to eat because i just moved into town and I decided to choose Main Street. I sat down , immediately I thought ," this place looks nice." The one lady working the floor seemed nice as she greats everyone, but I noticed she is wearing FLIP FLOPS( sergeant Susie) as it says on my receipt. I watched her as she went to everyone's table , take orders, wipe tables down and constantly touch her hair to put it behind her ears. Now i am no genius but I never seen her wash her hands the entire time she was doing this. She was always in the dining area. Never out of my sight so it was impossible to wash her hands especially going from the kitchen to dining area. The drink station in the back was visible to my table.,so i doubt if she washed her hands when she went to the back. THE WHOLE STAFF WORE STREET CLOTHES, Birkenstock sandals AND NO MASK!!!. NO ONE I REPEAT NO oNE had a mask on the entire time I was there!! Since we are going through a whole PANDEMIC I would think people would want to protect themselves , not at this place. As far as the food it was descent not alot of flavor, Another thing, they charge for every little thing so please ask if it cost because they will charge you. Also the place holds a smell, I came out with the smell of the restaurant on my clothes. Basically I wouldn't come back it's overpriced for the portion you receive and no one is taking their health or the health of others serious. Delicious traditional home cooked food but they also offer unique items as well. They are somewhat farm to table. Family style atmosphere, comfortable, makes you want to stay a while after you eat.
