Catastrophic radiator failure is never convenient, but you know the drill. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst and somewhere in between is a pretty good ride. One VERY hot July day in Castlegar that my 80,000 km Ninja 1000se/sx chose to barf it's coolant I was conveniently at a gas station a block away from a car wash and an auto parts store. Unfortunately the magic rad sauce the fixes leaks did/could not help. And there are no bike shops in Castlegar.
Conveniently there is one in Nelson, 40 minutes away. Gave Main Jet Motorsports a quick call and it went pretty well from that point on. Not only will they pick up the bike, they'll drop me at the airport on the way back to the shop. I flew home to Victoria and in a few days got the call with the diagnosis.
Parts need to come from Japan. Gonna take a while, gonna cost a lot. Which I fully expected.
That's where Main Jet really showed their stuff. I was treated like a long time customer, like I'd bought the bike from them. A few weeks later when the work was done I was quite pleased that it was several hundred dollars LESS than I expected. Flew back to Castlegar (no airport in Nelson) the shop picked me up and I got to meet the crew at Main Jet then spent the next 3 days riding back to the island by way of some of the best roads on the continent.
Outstanding service, great people, very well stocked shop, fantastic location (West Kootenays....go ride there !!!). I really appreciated the respect and care I was shown by everyone I dealt with. There's almost 20 people employed there. That's local paycheques buying local groceries. Local business is what keeps a community alive !!! I dealt with Pat, Kai, Adam , Shad and Andrew and the best review I can offer is: I would deal with them again. Of course I'd have to ride the West Kootenays again to do that. How convenient !!!
