Horrible buisness that takes advantage of tourists!! DO NOT GO HERE!! Below is my statement of how…read morewe were treated today (15 July 2014). On a trip to Italy my Husband and I decided to purchase some wine. While at the vineyard they showed us the shipping rates at mailboxes etc, they were around 35-50 Euro to ship 6 to 12 bottles from Italy to the UK. We purchased 12 bottles of wine and planned on shipping it ourselves. When we arrived at the local mailboxes etc store on Via Leonina we were quoted 250 Euro to ship 12 bottles of wine and a few trinkets. When we told him the price we were quoted to ship the wine at the vineyard he said he could knock it down to 230 Euro. We asked him what the price it would be to ship just the wine and the price went down to 160 Euro. We further questioned him, seeing a sign that it cost 30 Euro to ship 20 kilos anywhere in Italy we thought it was strange that the price we were getting was more than triple? He said he could knock the price down further to 120 Euro, but that was it. He told us that the vineyards got a special rate with mailboxes etc. I am extremely upset at how we were treated in mailboxesetc. It is my opinion that he saw a couple weighed down by a baby and all of the wine that he thought he could take advantage of us and inflate the prices. Never once did we see the price list, he wrote the total on a piece of paper. It also seemed strange that when we removed our few trinkets from the shipment that the price decreased by almost half? Why would a few odds and ends that probably only weighed a kilo or two at most increase the price by around 100 Euro? Why were the prices so negotiable that he could keep "knocking" a little off? Doesn't mailboxes etc or UPS have standard rates for package shipment? What a horrible experience to have in Italy. It has severely tainted my view of the country, and if these are the policies of UPS, than my view of the company as a whole too.

UPDATE: after sending heart emojis and voice notes tellingy friend he liked her, we decided the…read moreunprofessional and creepy vibes weren't worth wondering if he was also going to just steal our stuff. Checking the address on Google reveals MANY businesses there, probably a new page for each service, and fake one word reviews amongst others claiming their packages were never shipped. The owner (?) Dodged our questions about when the tracking would be updated and refused to provide basic information, like what tracking to use, when explicitly asked. Upon retrieval of our packages, Thank God that they were still there and not hawked or dumped in the river, he continued to insist they would tooootally be shipped that day and that he had already "paid." We decided not to argue to try and get a refund as the credit card companies can do that. Previous: Draft review so I don't forget. Had a hell of a time last night (partially our fault for letting the day get away from us and things closed) finding a shipping office to send some things home internationally. Seems to be a third party facilitating type office. The guy running the place also told me he has a Times Square location. Offers various shipping services (DHL, UPS, ect.). We chose FedEx on the proprietor's recommendation. My friend had a bit of haggle over price, which seems like it should be a fixed thing, and was unable to get a really satisfying reason as to why her lighter package the same size as mine was 20 Euro more to ship. I will just be happy if my package makes it to it's destination, and I can come back and update stars and review upon reciept (or not).
