I would actually shop there more often if other staff members would emulate Sophia! Did my google searching for photographers in Houston and contacted about a dozen. Perhaps half responded they weren't available, and half didn't respond. However, one adorable young lady in Austin (3 hours away), Julia Vie of Vivian's Muse, said she was very excited about shooting me! We exchanged several emails about the process and logistics and had an extended phone chat. My trepedation morphed into excitement and anticipation. Let's do this!! The big day! Julia shot perhaps 400 photos in an hour or so, all the while offering instruction, incredible encouragement and showing me what she had captured in her viewfinder. All with a monster camera and first class professional lighting. We shot on the couch, on the stairway, in the window, on the bed. Woah, so exhilerating! Nervousness was gone and my inner goddess had taken over. I'm not one for exaggeration but this was truly one of the best hours of my life. Back the next morning to review and select proofs. Oh no, her computer jammed up, wasn't happening. No problem in the digital age. We had more girly chat, comparing notes on all of the fun we had had the preceding day. A few days later the proofs arrived via email. I was blown away. OH MY! That cannot possibly be me. But...it is! Being a goddess, even for a short while, really gets in your head. And stays there. Who would have thought the idea of having a little fun by trying something different would turn into a life changing event? Thank you so very, very much Julia! Shelbi is a miracle worker! So I started my wedding dress…read moresearch at a regular bridal salon and tried on quite a few dresses. However, due to the vintage theme and my specific and apparently unusual tastes, I had no luck. I wanted a dress with a fitted bodice, flowy comfortable skirt and flutter sleeves. I was hoping to find something that fit these parameters and had a vintage flair. After doing a ton of research, I came across Moonlight and Moss. I totally thought a custom dress would be out of my budget, but when I talked to Shelbi, I realized that a dress off the rack plus alterations would be about the same price as a custom gown! Amazing! So I met with her and brought a simple drawing of the dress I envisioned. She was so receptive and immediately found me 3-5 options of vintage-style lace for the bodice. Shortly after our meeting she also sent me her fashion magazine drawing of the dress and I knew she knew what I had in mind! We had maybe 5-7 meetings in the next 4-5 months, with a mock-up and tweaking and making sure that the dress fit exactly perfect and had all the little details right. I ended up with the dress of my dreams and it fit me like a glove! The final product was a dress with a fitted v-neck bodice covered in art deco lace, flutter sleeves that continued along the back line of the bodice, a gorgeous multi-layered chiffon skirt and a super convenient and subtle bustle. And a huge bonus, I made my own veil and Shelbi was so so helpful in helping me find the right kind of tulle and lace! It turned out amazing and I highly recommend Moonlight and Moss for your wedding dress needs.
