The vibe of the hive is great…read more Emily and I decided to get out of town for a day and picked Galesburg to roam around and explore. I let her pick the coffeehouse we visit and that's how we ended up at The Beanhive. Upon walking in, I knew we picked a great place. The Beanhive has the vibes of grandma's house. Everything feels vintage, antiqued, and from the 1970s. The decor is definitely eclectic and feels like they raided said grandmas' house for all their furniture. All of that is a positive in my book. Emily ordered a caramel latte and I got my usual iced americano and we split a warmed up cinnamon roll for breakfast. It didn't take too long for our drinks and roll to come out. The americano was as dark as the night sky and that was a good sign. I took a sip and was instantly in heaven. This was, without a doubt, the best americano I've ever had. Emily was smitten with her caramel latte and we both loved the cinnamon roll. We stuck around a bit longer than intended because we both just loved the vibe of the place and the baristas make us feel really welcomed. If I lived in Galesburg, this would be the only coffeehouse I would visit. Sidenote: They do have stickers, pins, shirts and other merch if you are looking for that kind of stuff. We both got some stickers and pins while Emily also grabbed a nice looking long sleeve tye-dye shirt. Their merch has a Jimi Hendrix vibe to it, which fits with the vibe of the place.

We are so disappointed to share this experience with the Universe as we so looked forward to…read morevisiting Orange Cup every year we visit Galesburg to see family/. We arrived on Thanksgiving/Yesterday my wife, 11 year old daughter and Mother in Law and our cute little 6 month old Dachshund Milo... We all ordered our Lates and food...staff made us lates and everything start4ed out normal. The staff gave us a dog cup filled with whipped cream and a dog bone for Milo and four wonder full made Lates. We brought a board game and played for I hour and Milo was super well behaved on the floor as staff came over to play with him...Then Out of no where as we were packing up to leave a manager came up to my wife in a very abrupt/rude tone... dogs were not allowed ...and we have to leave. Literally made the point to kick us out when we were putting our jackets on....It seemed so intentional to make a scene in front of everyone.... So we came in with Milo, Offered Dog Treat, employees played with puppy and no mention of a policy for no puppies. She did mention there was a sign on the door....We did see the sign as we were rushed out of the establishment...Its 8 inch by 8 inch sign in the bottom of window with fine print that unless you look for it you would never see it... We love looking for cool little places like Orange Cup and so looked forward to visiting each year we came into town.... But the way this was handled was so cold and confusing as we were welcomed in with dog friendly behavior then out of nowhere having this person make a point to talk down to my wife and family as we were leaving was so intentional and condescending. If you're an animal lover and you read this you will understand this post.... In our future visits we will not return to Orange Cup as this experience to get ushered out in this manner showed us we were not welcome and not becoming for Galesburg.

Honestly so pleased to find a place like this. They have a drive thru which is a plus. Prices are…read morereasonable and they have a wide selection. They're right off the side of the highway located near the college, hospital and hotel. So that is convenient. They have a wide selection of coffees and ice cream which I'm assuming they are known for. The iced coffee is really good! I also ordered a chicken, tomato and mozzarella sandwich. Wasn't as appealing to look at but it is good for what's around here especially during the Covid-19 situation. Also it comes with a side of fruit which was super tasty and refreshing. Totally will be coming back next time I am around.

I wanted to share some feedback about an experience I had a few minutes ago at Mimi's. I've been…read morecoming to Mimi's for years and have always enjoyed it, which is why I felt it was important to bring this to light. I stopped in to get one of my favorite drinks and was greeted very politely. I even had a nice conversation with one of the young ladies working the register about the amazing-smelling candle they had burning inside. Everything was pleasant. When my drink was finished, I was handed my cup and noticed that it had leaked a little down the side. No big deal these things happen. I wiped it with a napkin, but the cup was still a little sticky. As the owner of a detailing business, I really didn't want to put a sticky cup into my vehicle's cup holder, so I politely asked another young lady if she had a wet rag that I could use to wipe it off. She said she could take care of it and walked over to the sink. While I was waiting behind the tea dispensers, I happened to look over to see what was taking a little while. I heard Lexi, the young lady who had taken my cup, quietly rudely talking to another employee about me and discussing the fact that I had asked for my cup to be wiped off. When I looked around the dispensers, we made eye contact, and the conversation continued. I honestly didn't appreciate being discussed while I was standing right there, especially over something as simple as asking for a sticky cup to be wiped down. I remained polite, took my drink, and when she asked if everything was fine now, I said yes and thanked her. I completely understand that these are young adults and that everyone has bad moments, but we're not in high school. Customers shouldn't feel like they're being talked about while they're standing right there. There was absolutely no reason for a simple request to turn into a conversation about me. I'm not writing this review to be rude or to attack anyone personally. I'm sharing it because I've been coming to Mimi's for years, and this one interaction unfortunately left a bad taste in my mouth. I would rather bring something like this to the business's attention now, in hopes that it can be addressed, than have a similar situation happen with someone who may not be as understanding or polite about it. I still appreciate the business and the people who work there, but I do think this is something that should be addressed. Sometimes a small interaction can make a much bigger impression on a customer than you realize.
