Actually I sometimes wish YELP offered 2 sets of review stars, one for the business and one set for the staff, if this was the case I would give Mahon Road 5 stars for the place itself, great location, parking, easy to get round, fantastic selection of shrubs, perennials, annuals, trellis, plant pots, garden equipment and seeds etc. All in all it is a well cared for, well stocked garden centre with average prices.
BUT!
The staff are as ignorant as sin, and I am not talking about the flunky's who carry the goods to your car or do your heavy lifting, they are nice guys alright, its the 2 owners who are sour as hell, don't crack a smile and are not that pleasant to deal with. I had an incident with an incorrectly priced item, chicken wire as a matter of fact that was labelled a certain price, when the lad cut it to my required length and took it to the till sour puss told me a different price, I pointed it out and he was in no way apologetic, and told me I should have checked before it was cut. The wire was CLEARLY marked with what I thought to be the price. No apology and NO offer of a reduced price. BOO!
A friendly manner would go a long way guys, a smile costs nothing yet gives so much....
Plus they are closed Sundays which is another negative. read more
