I…read morehad some really terrible experience with a male doctor that I saw for ten years there and asked to switch providers and was given a very hard time ( this provider then mysteriously retired). I knew I should have looked for a new provider then. I have now been a patient for 13 years and was told recently it was a policy that I was unable to schedule an appointment without paying $50.00 since I was self pay. When I expressed frustration about this I was then banned from making an appointment.. I even called to apologize for being upset and said I would pay whatever I needed to in order to schedule an appointment ( its hard to find a new provider). I was then told I was banned from scheduling and could leave a message from the office manager. I have left several messages each weeks apart and no one will return my calls. Every week I call back and get the same run around. I even called the nurse triage to make sure I have a bridge prescription for my two medications I am prescribed and they will not call me back either. The negligence is unheard of. I have been dealing with this for the past month. Please do yourself a favor and do not use this practice. I have never been treated so terribly by multiple different office staff.

I called them back the same day to confirm the appointment details because it wasn't on my calendar for the same time - confirmed the information and hung up. Called back 5 mins later to confirm the address/location, since I noticed on their website that they had multiple locations. I showed up today to the appointment, having driven 40 minutes from Hendersonville on a Monday morning, only to be told "looks like your appointment was cancelled by the patient on the phone". I know the miscommunication wasn't on my end because I clearly called back to confirm the location and had spoken to the same person - typically people don't do that when cancelling an appointment, do they? No accountability or willingness to do anything on their end except schedule me out for another few months. I now wasted valuable time and have to wait more months for another appointment. I am probably going to see if I can find a better place between now and then because of this disappointing experience. Maybe their doctors are good, but an incompetent front desk that costs me time (and therefore money) is something I cannot tolerate. I'm sure they'd still charge me per their "cancellation and missed appointment policy" if I missed a scheduled appointment - it should go both ways, unless they think their time is more important than their patients.

I came here originally because I was drawn to the fact that this was an all female practice. While…read moresome of the treatment i received was decent, I had an IUD placed here that has had my head spinning for months. I have had 2 IUDs placed before, both which were definitely not comfortable but bearable at least. However, not only was the Paragard IUD that I had placed at biltmore so painful I almost tapped out, but so shocking that i almost passed out on my way out of the building. The doctor who placed my device did so alone, and took around 5 minutes to successfully place the IUD, all of which I was telling her that it hurt much more than my last placements, and that I didn't know if i could continue. My doctor completely brushed off my pain and had me sitting in the chair idle and in immense pain with a cervical clamp in place for at least 60 seconds or more at one point as she fumbled with the equipment on the counter. As I said before, I have had these devices placed before, and the whole procedure must have taken under 90 seconds and was simply a few gnarly cramps. Nothing like this. On top of that, I was rushed out of the room shortly after the placement, and I was about a hair away from hitting the deck on my way out of the office. Shortly after leaving, I recieved a passive aggressive phone call from one of the office staff, who almost seemed to be insinuating a drug problem as the reason for my stumble. Yuck! Not only was the application of my IUD absolutely horrible, but the aftermath was as well. Almost immediately after placement, I began suffering with the worst case of BV i have ever had in my life. For months i tried just about everything I could to get rid of this infection to no avail. Finally, I made an appointment with a different Gyno in the area of my college who removed the device effortlessly, and informed me that because the BV was so treatment resistant, it's possible that my IUD was placed in such an unsanitary manner that I had bacteria trapped inside of my cervix. wow! Granted, the Paragard IUD also has an increased risk of BV, but this is something I had to find out on my own regardless. I cannot speak for the OB side of things at this establishment, but what I can tell you is if you want an IUD placed GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

She is lazy, dismissive, and lacks the compassion for womens health needed in this field of medicine. My girlfriend has battled what we now know is endometriosis since she was a teenager. Her mother also had endometriosis. Dr(used loosely) West refused to address her symptoms and provide definitive testing, instead band-aiding her pain with flexeril. She told my girlfriend, "You should only be having pain for 24hrs, that should be manageable." Let me be clear: I understand that pain is dependent on the person and that every person handles it differently, however, I have watched her, down on all fours, sobbing because the pain was so terrible. The pain has been so intense that she has had to cancel events, call out of work, and miss multiple functions every month. Today I sit in the waiting area as she has a total hysterectomy as well as an oophorectomy to remove her reproductive organs including both ovaries. She will require estrogen supplements from this point forward. She's barely 30. SHE'S. BARELY. 30. Her endometriosis was so bad and scarring so extensive that it had adhered to her bowel tissue. This is a disease process that takes years to progress to this magnitude. We were only able to get a second opinion a couple of months ago and surgery was scheduled emergently because she also had 2 cysts large enough that they were in danger of rupturing. Thank God for second opinions and healthcare providers who actually listen. SHE should be paying for this surgery. This surgery that should have been a couple of hours that has lasted more than 6 now. This surgery that is life changing and didn't have to be if only Susan West had cared to do more testing like she was asked to do over and over again. Update: What should have been a 2hr surgery turned into a 7hr surgery with my girlfriends new OB (Dr. Sarah Jones of Asheville Womens-Wonderful, by the way, would give 100 stars) and obstetrical surgery team saying that her case was the worst case of endometriosis they have seen to date. What took years of begging, only to be dismissed by Dr(Used sarcastically) Susan M. West, was fixed in 3 months with a change in provider.

I decided to get a 2nd opinion. Thank God I did. I was 2 centimeters dilated and spent the remainder of my pregnancy in maternal/fetal medicine in the hospital, and delivered at 31 weeks. My sister delivered her baby with Dr. Cuellar. He botched her episiotomy so badly that she had to have reconstruction surgery. The nurses in Labor/Delivery will tell you that Dr. Cuellar makes major mistakes. They will tell you to deliver with someone else. Do not make the same mistake we did. Go to another doctor.

She was thorough and ever so gentle! She even had great new solutions for some of my concerns. Yes, I had to wait a bit for my appointment, but if they are taking the time with every patient the way she did me, I'm OK with that. Plus, I love that they are a part of Novant Health, not Mission.
