I…read morehad some really terrible experience with a male doctor that I saw for ten years there and asked to switch providers and was given a very hard time ( this provider then mysteriously retired). I knew I should have looked for a new provider then. I have now been a patient for 13 years and was told recently it was a policy that I was unable to schedule an appointment without paying $50.00 since I was self pay. When I expressed frustration about this I was then banned from making an appointment.. I even called to apologize for being upset and said I would pay whatever I needed to in order to schedule an appointment ( its hard to find a new provider). I was then told I was banned from scheduling and could leave a message from the office manager. I have left several messages each weeks apart and no one will return my calls. Every week I call back and get the same run around. I even called the nurse triage to make sure I have a bridge prescription for my two medications I am prescribed and they will not call me back either. The negligence is unheard of. I have been dealing with this for the past month. Please do yourself a favor and do not use this practice. I have never been treated so terribly by multiple different office staff.

The doctor I used for my first two pregnancies is no longer at this practice but Dr. Travis was great with my most recent one, and she has been with the practice a long time. I have always had calls returned promptly and everyone was always very nice. Another review mentioned appointments being rescheduled and yes this does happen (because the Dr. on call has to go deliver babies at the hospital when necessary) BUT they always tell you what day is an on- call day for your Dr. and have you call before you come in to make sure you don't drive in for nothing. Also, they get you rescheduled as quick as possible but you may have to see another Dr. This is no big deal because they rotate you through to meet all the Dr.s anyway. Unless you have a scheduled delivery you are not necessarily going to get your Dr. delivering the baby, so they want you to meet all of them at least once. My first son was born almost 10 years ago, so the on-call policy is not something new and they work really hard to keep your appointments on schedule.

I wanted to join the MAHEC Centering Group, but somehow I seemed to slip through the cracks and was not scheduled to join the first 4 group sessions. After mentioning multiple times that I wanted to join centering, I finally got schedule and added to the group. I was disappointed on how the group was lead. It was a 2 hour appointment, and we spent 2 entire sessions talking about birth control after birth. We did not discuss anything that had to do with natural childbirth, prenatal care, or what we can expect when we go into labor. I was also disappointed to hear that the two nurses running the group were not going to be present at the birth. I've seen other doctors at MAHEC as well, for one on one appointments, and they have not addressed any of my concerns, do not make eye contact, and asked me over and over about my medical history, which was taken at my first appointment. It feels like MAHEC treats so many people that they do not have the capability to give much individualized care. If you have any interest in having a natural birth, or having a doctor that listens and addresses concerns, I suggest you DO NOT go to MAHEC

I came into his office at 24 weeks and told him that I was worried about the cramping that I was having. He told me not to worry because "babies just aren't born before 28 weeks." I decided to get a 2nd opinion. Thank God I did. I was 2 centimeters dilated and spent the remainder of my pregnancy in maternal/fetal medicine in the hospital, and delivered at 31 weeks. My sister delivered her baby with Dr. Cuellar. He botched her episiotomy so badly that she had to have reconstruction surgery. The nurses in Labor/Delivery will tell you that Dr. Cuellar makes major mistakes. They will tell you to deliver with someone else. Do not make the same mistake we did. Go to another doctor.

She was thorough and ever so gentle! She even had great new solutions for some of my concerns. Yes, I had to wait a bit for my appointment, but if they are taking the time with every patient the way she did me, I'm OK with that. Plus, I love that they are a part of Novant Health, not Mission.
