Came here to celebrate my friend's birthday. The food was prepared fresh. I enjoyed the garlic naan. I opted for the 3-course set menu of fried potato cake in ketchup(?), spicy butter cheese and sweet cake in rose water. The food was ok. The butter paneer masala dish was too sweet for me, but I'm aware it's a local favorite. I'm not a fan of ketchup so did not enjoy the initial dish. I know this is a faraway city in western Norway without many other Indian restaurants, and there could be added challenges of sourcing ingredients. Service was very average. This is one of the authentic Indian places in Bergen. It's too costly but the quality and quantity is really good. Ambience is pretty good. We ordered palak paneer, samosa chaat and 2 tandoori rotis. Samosa chaat is not really a chaat plate as described on the menu but it's just samosas with a little chutney. But they are tasty. Also palak paneer is a must try. Rotis are not on the menu but they were kind enough to make for us. read more

This restaurant is right next to the Thon Hotel so we thought we would try it out. First of all, be aware that they say they close at 10 pm, but they will refuse to seat you if you come in after around 9:20 since the kitchen closes at 9:30. If you come in close to that time, they will rush you. We ordered food to take away one evening shortly before they stopped taking orders. The chicken biryani was pretty good, but very overpriced for what we got. We also ordered chicken korma, which was awful. It was watery and it tasted like the kitchen may have in fact closed. We did not even finish it. The staff clearly did not intend to stay a minute later than needed and the service felt like it. Maybe it would have been better if we had arrived in the afternoon and eaten in. But as it was, we all scratched our heads to figure out how this restaurant scored a four star rating. I love Indian food, but not in this case. We all agreed that a meal from the fish market would have been a much better use of our time and money!! read more

This was the best Indian food I've had in the Scandinavian and Baltic regions in Europe. The portions are perfect and the food tasted great! The paneer, chicken and chaana dishes we ordered were all delicious with great flavor. The naan was nice and soft. The service was courteous and quick. The food was fresh with great quality. Would recommend for anyone in the Bergen area who wants a little Indian flavor! read more

Local Indian residents told us that food is good here but the service is pretty bad. Wish we had listened to them. We were a party of 8 at 9pm on Saturday July 28th 2018. Even though the restaurant was half empty, a rude waiter told us a 20 minute wait. Why? "Because I have to set everything up." We said we will take two separate tables. "Still will need 15 minutes." We actually got our two tables within 8 minutes. First indication of them not wanting our business. Upon entering a 2nd waiter offered to join our tables. The first waiter tried to prevent him saying in a frustrating voice 'you agreed to separate tables.' We said yes but we prefer joined tables if possible. Reluctantly, muttering under his breath and kicking the chairs around both the waiters starting joining the table. While they were joining I whispered to my party that he doesn't want to do his job. The first waiter heard that and told me 'don't talk in the side.' at this time I told him that if he had issues we will leave and take our business elsewhere. He said you are welcome to leave. Extremely poor service. More than half of the restaurant is empty and yet the two waiters each said they are very busy and don't have time to clear a table we preferred. Their manner is also very abrupt and not friendly or helpful at all. We just ordered our food, so no reviews yet on the quality of the chef. But from the waiters' standpoint, it doesn't look like they want to make any money! read more

Worst experience ever in an Indian restaurant outside india, on -13 step around 3 pm went there with family for lunch,there was only one shrewd looking waitress , who don't like some more new guests for lunch . For everything the first answer was NO, extra rice please ...NO .., we will pay for it ... Then yes .. We ate at Maharaja 2 times while we were visiting Norway. The food, service, and ambience were all great. While this place is a bit on the pricier side, the food was delicious. They had a great menu with lots of choices. Would definitely recommend. read more
