We always vote with our feet and so far this restaurant / Takeaway has not failed to impress and is fair value for money. To our amazement when we reached the restaurant the manager/owner refused to acknowledge the booking and blatantly accused us of not booking and coming. Then when his junior staff told him that there is a booking he told him off in a hushed voice. Me with my friends felt humiliated and were accused of lying and were asked to leave the restaurant. So in view of our experiences it is best to avoid this restaurant. There are much better alternatives in Torquay to have a good time.

It was clearly a Bangladeshi restaurant as several of the items had Bengali names for the dishes. The restaurant didn't look very exciting from the outside to be honest but as it was just opening we went in and requested a table for two as we were really very hungry. From the moment we entered, seated, handed menus and brought over the beautifully presented starters, we felt very welcome and the service levels were just as good as the standard of food. The food was delivered in a sensible time to our table and we didn't feel rushed to move on to the next course, nor did we feel ignored. The music level was just right, pleasant music which didn't intrude on dinner conversation and when we said it was a little too warm, the heating was adjusted accordingly straight away. Both ladies and gents' toilets were spotless which is a great plus for me when going to a restaurant. It shows they look after the place. All the waiting staff were polite and friendly so we were happy to leave a pretty decent tip when they presented with the bill which was 100% accurate and very reasonably priced.

It is one of the nicest Indian restaurants I have been too, and I recommend a visit. I've never been disappointed. Its good value as well. The food is varied and well prepared. The restaurant has been redecorated in the last year or so when it was taken over by new managment and the name was changed from The Jaipur. The biggest disadvantage is the Dilshad has no parking and you can't park outside but the road at the side has some parking and if you can't find any spaces there you can use local council car parks.
