Whilst visiting Torquay a while ago we spotted an Indian restaurant called Curry Ocean - the name made us smile being right by the sea - so we went over to the window to have a look at the menu. It was clearly a Bangladeshi restaurant as several of the items had Bengali names for the dishes. The restaurant didn't look very exciting from the outside to be honest but as it was just opening we went in and requested a table for two as we were really very hungry.
From the moment we entered, seated, handed menus and brought over the beautifully presented starters, we felt very welcome and the service levels were just as good as the standard of food. The food was delivered in a sensible time to our table and we didn't feel rushed to move on to the next course, nor did we feel ignored.
The music level was just right, pleasant music which didn't intrude on dinner conversation and when we said it was a little too warm, the heating was adjusted accordingly straight away. Both ladies and gents' toilets were spotless which is a great plus for me when going to a restaurant. It shows they look after the place.
All the waiting staff were polite and friendly so we were happy to leave a pretty decent tip when they presented with the bill which was 100% accurate and very reasonably priced. read more
