Beautiful grounds came to climb at Southern Boulder but the bottle of wine to finish of the day sitting by the dam really topped it off

The Morphett Vale Function Centre is an excellent place to go for lunch (or dinner if you want live…read moreentertainment). The prices are incredibly reasonable with lunchtime mains costing from $9 to $14. This means that you could potentially have a three course lunch (including a drink) for $20, which is probably the best price I have come across (this includes the free soup of the day as an entree). They also have a small (but nice) salad bar that has a soup of the day special, small bread rolls, garden salads, potato salads and fresh vegetables (no pasta salad unfortunately but the other salads made up for that). When I went for lunch, I had a lamb shank, it was very tasty and was served with a nice creamy mash potato. Vegetable sides could also be grabbed from the salad and vegetable bar. For $12, the food is around what you expect however is quite pleasant and was seasoned and prepared well. I also had a $6 dessert afterwards, which was an excellent chocolate cake. The cake had incredible flavours and was presented very well. They also have a nice soup of the day available from the salad bar. The soup that was there on the day was very nice, in fact I would go as far as to say one of the best mushroom soup's I have ever had. The staff were also very attentive, easy to talk to and the atmosphere was excellent. I have also been here on a night time where they have the same sort of menu and tried some chicken from their stonegrill menu (this menu is excellent and I would highly recommend it). They also have entertainment on the weekend with a stage and a dining hall. Overall, a good dining experience and the function center remains a great spot for a good feed without opening your wallet too far at all.

Rather Partridge House is a beautiful old community home, originally built in 1899 for a Mrs Elinor Varley. The house is today set amidst stunning gardens and grounds and is used these days predominantly as a venue for weddings. Partridge house can also be hired for all sorts of events and is home to various community groups and organisations. If you're looking at hiring the venue, it will seat 80 people for a sit down function or can take 130 for a cocktail party. Take special note of the fountain in front of the house as a location for you photos. It was donated to the owner by former Adelaide Mayor and state pollie, William Townsend back in 1877. Fast forward a hundred years or so to the early 1970's, in fact around the same time TV's The Partridge Family was making it big, and there was talk of demolishing Partridge House and using the land to establish housing. Thank heavens, the then Glenelg Council decided to buy and restore the historic site instead. The beautiful gardens and grounds are open to the public every day, but the house is closed.

We started with the Selection of dips (4 in all) and they were very well made, served with Pita Bread and chargrill toasted French stick, that worked very well. Then we had some mains. The menu is not large by any means. but there is something to suit almost all tastes. It's one of those a few WELL Made dishes rather than a mass of average. I had the Pork Belly and Scallop dish.. it was so tasty. light, fresh, meaty

I have been to Woodstock on several occasions and the most recent was for the wedding of two very good friends. I have spent a great deal of my professional life organising functions - weddings being the most high pressure of these events (even the meekest girl has the ability to turn into a raging bridezilla) and I was absolutely floored with the organisation, affability and professionalism of Zak the restaurant manager and the woodstock crew. We had an alternate drop menu, chosen by the bride and groom. Every dish was delicious and maintained a very good standard (not quite as good as their unique, rustic a la carte menu, but it's impossible to acheive the same level of finish en masse). The restaurant at woodstock is called Coterie and is in the unique semi circular building where the reception was held. The space features an open fire in the middle of the inner wall. On Friday evenings they do a pizza night, nom, nom, sundays they have live jazz and there are Llamas over the back fence! Great novelty factor. I would not hesitate to recommend woodstock as a must-do Mclaren Vale destination. If you're into rose - the Grenache rose is one of the best Reds - The stocks Shiraz is a boys fave my pick may be the Octogenarian, grenache tempranillo
