What I particularly like about Shahi Tandoori is that it is split into two quite separate spaces, one side is the restaurant and one is the takeaway. This is genius! There's nothing more annoying than people wandering through while you're eating to pick up their order, letting a draft in and spoiling the ambiance of the restaurant. Well Shahi has it covered. Food-wise, the side dishes are all great...I particularly like the Bombay Aloo, the Sag Paneer and the Onion Bhajis- delicious! I can also recommend the Vegetable Balti and Chicken Tikka Masala. Since this place is just around the corner, we often pop down to pick up a few side dishes to go with a home-cooked curry and they never look at us funny, despite our paltry order! I like them.

'Shahi' is a little bit cheaper then the more central Indian restaurants (and take aways, they do both). The food is also of a very good quality; I had the rogan josh and passanda, both of which I could eat 7 days a week. The area isn't the nicest, the decor is a little dated, but it's a fantastic place filled with Indian charm (and food).

But to sustain a business sometimes you have to branch out to lure in more custom. Whilst the burgers and pizzas aren't up to much, they're cheap and at least on offer. As you would expect, Aysha soar in the curry department. The Bengal Noodles are lovely, cooked with chicken and chillied herbs. Another notable dish is the Garlic Chilli Chicken, sublime. Most curries are well priced and all come with rice and salad, but they are all top quality.

Formerly Papadum this restaurant claims to specialise in Nepalese and Indian cuisine. Although…read morerenamed they still use the Papadum ordering pads and paperwork. Curiously the menu of the former was more exotic then this one. I can see nothing on it that one would label 'Nepalese' except for one dish with radishes which was listed as a gurkha favourite . We ordered a takeaway and had the Royal Gurkha special which came in at a whopping £9.50. It was nice but all it was was a mixed kebab starter in a masala sauce. We also had a korma and a lasuni. The latter was listed as hot but it was not. Rice was generous and the naan breads tasty. Dahl too watery for my liking. All in all though it was very tasty
