Cool place I'm here on a birthday party and one of the staff was really rude to my child. There's other ways to speak to a child.

She has extensive, hands on experience as both an advocate and as a parent of children who are twice exceptional/have disparate special needs. She is also directly connected to a special education law firm and works in tandem with this separate legal organization. She boasts a PhD, is a parent who understands the struggles and journey herself, and provides comprehensive/exceptional services affordably. I have spoken with many IEP advocates and she charges a much more reasonable fee. Given how expensive and stressful the IEP/504 process can be-it helps to have an excellent advocate who still extends her services with professionalism & compassion without compounding the financial stress of advocating for your child's educational/other needs. She has created innovative school curricula for CA and FL schools, has trained teachers on supporting neurodiverse students, and supports you throughout this complicated landmine/process. She is also incredibly sweet and responsive to emails and phone calls/texts. If your issue is more complex and requires legal expertise-she has a direct collaborative relationship with a special education attorney, many friends in the special education field, and sends referrals to you regarding other parents' and their experiences. Highly recommended!

We had been spending countless hours trying to get the district to follow our son's IEP, provide accommodations, and complete a long overdue triennial. Tova stepped in to help push the district to a resolution that we were satisfied with. She is an active listener, an empathetic supporter, a fierce advocate, and an ethical professional. Tova also works closely with a lawyer, and together they have been helping us navigate the legal system for the next steps to hold the district accountable. If you are having issues with an IEP, I highly recommend Tova to help you get it resolved successfully.

As we began to push more, the district began to make our family's life more difficult. We had Stanley recommended to us by a colleague of my wife who had used him for an employment issue, and we could not be happier. Stanley has a great understanding of the system. He has helped us stay focused on what is worth responding to and what can be chalked up to the district fabricating a storyline to cover itself. He has also helped the district take us seriously. Prior to bringing him on, our son's IEP was already overdue by 3 months with little progress. Stanley has been a great asset to resolving our issues with our son's district. He also works closely with an IEP advocate and they were able to help with a new placement for our son to remove him from the environment at his school and get him to a school that believes in the importance of an IEP for a student's access to their education. We still have some work to do, but we resolved our number 1 priority in getting our son out of a bad environment. We fully trust Stanley and his guidance to see us through the rest of this ordeal.

"Can I come back here EVERY summer?" That's my son's review. Which I think tells you most of…read morewhat you need to know, but I'll fill out the parents perspective as well... This was our first year at Steve and Kate's Camp, and what a difference a year makes! My 6 year old son had a pretty crummy experience at a different camp last year... and came in all but convinced that camp was going to be awful. Within the first week, he was in love. They really do a fantastic job at striking the balance between having some structure in the day and letting kids do what they feel like... this is summer after all. I also appreciate that they have fun weekly activities to break up the summer. Some highlights for my son this year were: Reptile Show, A comedian/magician, Foam and Dance Parties, The daily game-show with prizes, and "summerween". He was also really excited for the camp wide talent show but unfortunately we were out of town. This isn't some 10-1 ratio boutique experience, but the counselors all seem very competent and enthusiastic... and we never had any issues. My son is currently in a phase where most of the time he prefers to hang with adults and help instead of freeform play with kids and the counsellors did an amazing job making him feel helpful and like he's part of the team. (Thanks guys!) Lastly, I'd like to point out that when I first researched the camp there were some concerning reviews from 2021/2022 about kids running free unsupervised or having bad experiences. I'm happy to say we didn't experience anything like that. The camp has a new director this year, Anthony, who's done a fantastic job and seems very dedicated and accessible. We'll definitely be back. Great job everybody!

I do not recommend sending your child to Steve & Kates camp. My daughter had gone the last 2…read moresummers and while she enjoyed it, we always had challenges with their staff. This summer there is a new Director named Mickey who is absolutely awful. My daughter has a disability and is funded by the Regional Center and has a 1:1 Aid. They say they are good with Neurodivergent children but definitely are not. Before camp even started this new Director refused to implement any of my daughter's disability accommodations that we had in place and approved for the last 2 summers. I was absolutely shocked and had no idea why she would take away accommodations that supported my daughter previously at camp. I had to fight with the Regional Manager to get these accommodations approved again, which they finally did. Then on the first day of camp they didn't follow any of them. This camp does not allow parents on campus, which in itself is a red flag. But we had an accommodation that I was allowed on campus if she needed additional support. Within 3 hours of her first day her Aid texted to say she was unhappy because a boy was fighting with her over something they were playing with and wanted to go home. When I got to camp I talked to her through the gate and she decided she was ok and wanted to stay. I offered her a hug before I left and asked the Director to open the gate so I could hug her, and she refused. The Director REFUSED to let me hug my child. I was in absolute shock. My daughter was upset but decided to go onto the play structure to calm down. Then a boy randomly kicked her and hit her on the head. I saw the entire thing. There is zero control with over 200 kids at this camp of all ages. My daughter ended up on the ground crying, and the Director still wouldn't let me in the gate to get to her. It is the most awful feeling as a parent to watch your child hurt and crying and you cannot get to her because another person won't let you. The Director is despicable and should be ashamed of how she let a little girl suffer and wouldn't let her Mom help her. After 10 minutes they finally let me in and I had to carry my daughter out in tears. This was all because none of her accommodations were followed that had been in place the last 2 years and their complete lack of understanding of children with disabilities. There is also no empathy or understanding how to make the right decision in the moment for the child. Because keeping her Mom from her was devastating. We will no longer be attending Steve & Kates and I would never recommend them. There are plenty of camps out there that better support children of all needs and don't keep their parents from them.
