    Carte Blanche - What I ordered....what I got.

I was looking to try a new hairdresser in Orleans and was recommended to Roy Jouni (owner) at Carte…read moreBlanche Spa on Innes. I happily met Roy, and had a pleasant experience with my appointment. Was offered wine, and chatted easily! Long (and expensive) story short, my hair turned out nothing like I had expected. Both cut and colour were extremely choppy, not properly blended and I have a blonde lions mane around my face (so I can't pull it back to hide the two very different length of hair I have). I tried styling it myself, different ways to wear it... but nope. I know that this can happen, and decided not to be rash but instead to let him rectify the situation. I emailed the salon, and they said to come in for Roy to take a look at what needed to be done and we would book the appropriate appointment afterwards. I was satisfied with this response and agreed to meet at the salon today at 6:15 pm. I arrived shortly after 6, was offered water and sat and waited... and waited... At 6:45 I went to the receptionist to say I would come back another time. She offered to go check to see how long he would be. I agreed to wait. I was not prepared for what happened next... Roy came out squinting, looking around as if someone had just disturbed him. Asked, "can I help you?" I explained that I had an appointment at 6:15 to discuss my hair with him. He said, "and you're waiting?" I said, yes but I had been waiting half an hour. To which he replied, "and you have a problem with that? I'm in the middle of a session!" I said yes, that he had set the time. He then turned to reception and said, "I'm NOT doing it!" Dismissed me by waiving his arms and walked away! At this point I welled up in tears. The receptionist was kind and apologetic. Said I caught him "in a bad moment". I reminded her that he was the owner and I promptly left. If you were one of the customers sitting in the waiting area that day, you can attest to his degrading and dismissive behaviour. I am truly shocked anyone would speak to a client this way. Never mind when given the opportunity to retain business and fix a clearly bad hair cut. I couldn't leave this alone, and let his bad behaviour continue. If you are considering trying out his salon or spa, please keep this in the back of your mind. Paying $400 to be yelled at in a lobby, for a terrible hair cut was not at all what I had in mind. Not so neighbourly Roy. (Photo of what I asked for vs. What I received attached)

But we just went in with socks. We were greeted by a lovely attendant at the front desk. We were offered cocoa and tea. I selected a lemon ginger tea. It was lovely while we waited. The place is serene, it's big and offers all kinds of services. We met with Claudine and had a lovely experience and even my teen said she was okay - which is saying a lot. If this was closer to our house I think I would explore many of their other services. They even offer reflexology. Lots of great things. We had a fantastic experience. Thank you.

I had a cut and style, and a pedicure and couldn't be happier with my experience and the results. Amanda cut my hair and gave me the best scalp massage I've ever had! It was also interesting to see how her scissors flew through my hair, cutting, snipping and sliding through the strands to work with my greying, wavy hair. It looks great and has been easy to recreate the style with a quick blow dry and a small amount of the recommended product - which I also bought. They will even refill the bottle for a 10% discount.! Ekatarina did my pedicure and her gentle touch and attention to detail, made for a relaxing and lovely experience. I will definitely be back!

Two hairdressers were cutting men's hair, and the rest were serving women. There was a man in the waiting area. When a hairdresser was done with one of the men, he paid and left and she called the waiting man. I waited... and waited. A female customer walked in and was immediately greeted by the hairdresser that had just finished with the man. Away they went. I suppose that she had an appointment. Nobody had yet come to see why I was there, or even really acknowledged that I was indeed there. A female customer walked in and someone immediately appeared from the back to ask her is she had an appointment. The customer said yes and gave the name of the hairdresser. The someone disappeared into the back. The woman sat down in a chair. From the moment that I had walked in, the closest hairdresser on the right had been working on a man's cut. She eventually finished with the cut and the man paid and left. She then called for the woman that had just walked in. She didn't even look at me or ask if i had been served. I walked out. Guess whether I will ever return to this establishment? I just checked the website and it does not state that appointments are required. Even if appointments were required, someone could have actually interacted with me and asked why I was there. WTF?
