Visiting the museum is free so be sure to make a donation in the bin provided to keep this small bit of history open to the public!

Best FREE date or family outing ever!…read more Have you ever seen that scene in "Half Baked" where Dave Chappelle is trying to take Mary Jane out on a date, but has no money & even has to steal change from a blind beggar to buy her ice cream? Skip the ice cream & come here! This observatory is owned by the City of Lincoln, & is operated by volunteers. Every Saturday night, visitors are treated to a short film (usually about the current season's constellations). A volunteer will then tell you what's happening in space news right now (Mars exploration, meteor showers, etc.). Then, you'll head out to the observation area, where they roll back the roof & set up 2-3 telescopes. You'll get a chance to look through each, & a friendly volunteer will tell you WHAT exactly you're looking at. It's a tiny building on the south side of Holmes Lake, so if it's a warm night, you can take a romantic walk along the lake if you like. Or, head over to nearby Goodrich or Baskin Robbins fo some ice cream :) TIPS: - Check the hours on the website before you go. - Watch the film first, then do the scopes. - Bring your kids!!

Really impressive. The theatre has the small, intimate feel I associate with a community playhouse…read moreand the production we saw (Be More Chill, in Fall 2019) was wonderfully staged. They weren't really enforcing stay in the vehicles or keep your hands in the vehicles. The car in front of us had kids sticking out both sides of the windows. And even stopped in the middle to change drivers twice. Overall a fun evening. Better signage of where the entrance is would be great!

The 4 stars are partially because I like old theaters, this is Lincoln's only independent theater,…read moreand the owner's just a really sweet guy. The long-awaited bathroom renovations were complete when I last visited in July 2009. It's nice, though I regret the space it took up in the main theater. Renovations are on-going - the owner works a second job to support the theater. Second run theater and more - they bring in magic shows, host birthday parties, and will do private showings of films (independent, special-interest such as Indian, etc.) . During football season they show the games on the big screen (for free!) and sell concessions. They do cheap matinees of kiddie films in the summer, and in October the owner brings back Rocky Horror. Nice marquee, big screen, big venue (cavernous - seats 300, less the couple of seats removed to make space for the expanded bathrooms). The owner is a sweet guy who was very good to us when we ran a Rocky Horror cast here - we still come back and visit occasionally. It's the sort of place where if you're a regular they learn your name.

The cast and crew was a combination of professionals and students, and the show was great. Tickets are reasonably priced. Check it out!
