It may seem ridiculous to have waited so long to write this review, but honestly my experience was…read moreso disappointing it's taken me a while to want to write anything here. I booked a 12 hour limo van for my 15 year wedding anniversary last December. Prior to booking we called the company and explained all of the places we planned to visit in New York City at Christmas time on a Saturday. We provided an itinerary that was detailed with addresses. The reason we booked through this company is because they assured us they could accommodate that itinerary and that they were experts at navigating the city. We also asked if there was any in vehicle entertainment to play movies, which they told us they did via DVD player. When the driver arrived we asked for instructions for the video components. Unfortunately none of it worked. It was disappointing because they said they had this available, but we tried to brush it off. Our first stop on our trip was uptown around 75th street. I verified with the driver that he had all of the correct addresses, but as we neared the city I realized he was taken us in via the Holland Tunnel which is for travel downtown and far out of the way from where we needed to be. We had paid for tickets to an event at our first location. When he showed me his GPS he entered the wrong name of a location instead of entering the address we had provided. Unfortunately we missed out on our first stop, couldn't get a refund, and were stuck in traffic as he took a route that took us through midtown close to Broadway. Due to him going the wrong way we had to completely reconfigure our route and plan for the night. We had two stops planned after our first stop that we abandoned because of the intense delay. We decided to then go to Rockefeller Center. He dropped us off, and when we asked to be picked up he gave us a location that I immediately recognized would put us in intense levels of traffic. From when we asked him to pick us up, to when he did, was an hour. When I called him because this seemed like a grossly long delay, he snapped at me on the phone, was rude, and refused to give us further updates as to where he was. We stood in the cold waiting to be picked up. From there we had a location downtown. I can't emphasize this enough, he decided to drive down Times Square on a Saturday evening in December. We are very understanding and aware that NYC at Christmas is busy. But mistakes, the driver's demeanor, and the misleading agreements when we booked the trip could have been avoided. Anyone even remotely versed in driving in the city would have taken a different route. We missed the reservation we planned and had to contact the restaurant to see if they could accommodate us. This was an expensive evening, one in which my husband and I saved up for and chose to do because of the information given to us by the company. To be honest the vehicle felt rickety, and our driver when on the highway was in my opinion driving recklessly. Please avoid booking through this company. I never contacted them afterwards because I knew if they could mislead us so deeply before booking they wouldn't offer anything that could resolve the hundreds of dollars we spent and the ruined evening we had spent months planning. Of the 7 locations they told us they could easily get us to in 12 hours we went to a grand total of 3. We lost money on events we had prepaid for, truly this was an awful experience.

It was incumbent upon the customer to follow-through if the transaction was obviously not complete (i.e. how was this being paid-for?). I understand that it is ultimately my responsibility, but when I contacted Sandra Green about it today she said " when you didn't give me your credit card info I assumed that you bought your own" I really don't think someone in her line of work should "assume" anything. There was no follow up email when I failed to provide her with my payment info. Also when she originally booked the flights the return flight was for the 16th which would have brought me back 4 days after graduation, something she was made aware of. Luckily one of the students going on the same trip noticed and had her change it. Overall I'm pretty upset and I really hope that people who travel with this agency in the future won't have to spend hundreds because of a few miscommunications.

We also felt safe the entire time; you would never have known they had just gone through a revolution. The sites were just amazing. There was such a variety of activities that kept us going the entire trip; riding camels and donkeys, going inside the pyramids, sailing down the Nile and then swimming in it! I was surprised how cold the water was. The temples and hieroglyphs were astounding, knowing they had been created, some up to 6,000 years ago, and then finding some paint still on them! We also learned so much of the country's past with an Egyptologist as our guide. I had such a great time that I'm trying to organize another trip with my students now. Jesse was always available to answer any questions we had at just about anytime of day. The trips are very low priced and even with only the activities already planned it would be a very full trip. The optional activities did add up however, but I wouldn't have missed them. The hot air balloon ride over Luxor was so exciting!

So we looked up the reviews and pictures from African Mecca Safaris and decided to contact Ali. Ali first told me to tell him what your preferences and hesitations are and I will address each one. I literally had a whole list. Lol. I am scared of animals coming too close to us. I am worried that we will get sick. I am worried about safety. I am worried about staying in cabins overnight all the way in Africa. I wanted a mix of safari and beach. My husband wanted to take his dad on this trip as his retirement gift. This was the initial reason we started planning it a year ago. He literally answered all our questions even on what to pack for the trip. Ali had to accommodate 3 generations. My father in law, me and Saad, and of course our kids. We had a meeting with him and he went over all our concerns and he came up with an itinerary that was just right for all of us. He gave me different options and didn't rush us to finalize things right away. We did a mix of safari, beach and some historical sights. We were welcomed by two people right when we got out of the plane and we literally had someone with us for the whole trip. He arranged all of the local flights. Again someone stayed with us until we boarded and someone was always there when we got off the plane. We didn't have to worry about one thing. His staff in Africa was very nice and went above and beyond to make sure that we are comfortable. Ali was always in touch with us too. During the trip we always had excellent views, beautiful and clean cabins with attached bathrooms. We had wifi, electricity and very comfortable beds. I literally didn't see any bugs in our cabins. We had booked 3 cabins and rooms in every place. Each one with its own special view. We had a nice family villa with private pool for us in Zanzibaar. I noticed that a lot of people were doing group safaris and tours but we always had a car, a chauffer and a dedicated guide just for our family. Ali is a parkland dad and he knows these kids really well. He made sure that we all stayed comfortable through out the trip. He honestly provided us with way more than we asked for including two surprise cakes for my father in law for his retirement. Me and my husband can't thank him enough for all that he did to make this such a memorable trip for all of us. Also no one, literally no one got sick during our trip. I took so many medicines but the whole pack came back untouched. I am so glad we pushed ourselves out of our comfort zone because it was all worth it. The guides were very understanding and cooperative. We saw the big 5 and a lot more. Lions in action. Cheetah's taking a stroll. birds chirping. rhinos, giraffes, elephants. Zebras playing around. I am already missing our bonfire dinners, wake up call coffees, African hospitality, breakfast in the valley and not to mention the yummy fresh juices and delicious lattes. Witnessing how all these animals can live in so much harmony was mind blowing. I realized animals are content with what they get for that day and are very happy to chill and enjoy the sun for the rest of the day. If you really want to see and understand the meaning of Hakuna Matata, please go and learn it from those animals :)

Living in South Philly and having your wedding in Media presents some difficulties. First and…read moreforemost is transportation. When my fiance and I decided to get a limousine, we really didn't know what to expect. We had never rented one or done anything like this. From the moment my bride-to-be made the first call to Secrets, we knew we had made the right choice. She spoke with Flo, who walked her through every step of the process. She was nice, fun to speak to, and actually engaged her in conversation. Subsequent conversations were equally wonderful. We changed the pickup/dropoff times more than once, and each time they made it easy. The day of the wedding was just as excellent. Our driver, Bryan, was super relaxed and level-headed even as the bride and groom were crunched for time. He came into the house, grabbed the dresses, gently tucked them into the back of the van and was a general help. Once there, he brought everything inside and simply went above and beyond the call of duty. Bryan listened to our suggested routes and changed on the fly, without as much as a peep of protest. On the way home, he assisted us getting in and out of the vehicle, even moving the van closer to our reception site just to make it easier on some of our less-agile passengers. Total professionals. Better than we could have hoped for in our wildest dreams.
