I am basically happy with the work done by Magic Wallpapering, with one caveat. Overall, they are skilled, knowledgeable workers who are pleasant to work with. It took three days to replace the wallpaper in part of our kitchen. Alex initially quoted me $1500 to remove two layers of old wallpaper and $1200 to install the new paper. This didn't include the cost of the new wallpaper. He warned me that additional prep work might be needed based on the condition of the walls under the old paper. The first day three workers came out. Diego appeared to be in charge. I talked to him about how I'd like the paper positioned on the wall. It's a large-repeat pattern and I wanted a certain part of the pattern to be at the top of the wall. I was impressed with his knowledge and clear explanations. I also talked to him about a door I wanted partially wallpapered. I asked him if I should have them remove the old wallpaper first, or just put new paper over the existing paper on the door. He said it would work either way. I opted to leave the old wallpaper in place. That first day they removed the old paper from the walls, which was difficult. They did a good job. After this was done, they said the walls were in pretty good condition, but they recommended I have them do priming and caulking for best results. This cost an additional $750. I don't know if it was strictly necessary, but they also did a good job of this. Problems arose on the third day, when the new wallpaper was installed. Diego wasn't there that day. The two workers were Eliu, a heavyset guy who did the actual installation, and Andy, a pleasant younger guy who assisted him and translated. I got a scrap of wallpaper and folded it to show Andy which part of the design I wanted at the top of the wall. When they put it up, the design was wrongly placed in one area. Eliu argued with me and overtalked me with Andy translating. Finally he irritably ripped off that part and did it right. Then Eliu told me he couldn't put wallpaper over the existing wallpaper on the door. I told them Diego already told me it would be no problem. Again, he argued and overtalked me. Finally he did what I asked him, but was irritable about it. Both of these corrections took very little time; I think he spent more time arguing with me than they took to fix. Finally, there was an area where they couldn't match the wallpaper pattern. They explained to me that they had already tried twice. The window frame wasn't straight, and it just wouldn't line up right no matter what they did. I said okay, no problem; probably no one will notice it. I appreciated them talking to me about it and not just doing it wrong and leaving, which many workers would do. However, after they left I noticed that there's big wrinkle in the paper there. I'm not too happy about that, but again, it's in an inconspicuous area and probably no one will notice. If you're thinking of hiring this crew I would say go ahead, but don't just blindly trust them. Discuss details beforehand, explain how you want things done, inspect carefully, and stick to your guns if they try to wriggle out of doing it right

I really wanted to give Alex, Diego and the entire team a 5 star review because they did such a beautiful job with our powder room walls and ceiling, office ceiling and guest bedroom wall. Unfortunately, it was a complete headache when I reached back out for them to install dark wallpaper for our office walls. Different guys were sent and they did such a bad job since you can see the horizontal white seams. Also the textured wallpaper installed in our bedroom's seams are all coming off. I reached out to Alex and he sent the original team to fix it but they were still unable to do anything. Now I'm having to hire and pay yet another company to remove sides of the wallpaper, chalk the ends and re-paste.

Had a fabulous experience with Magic Wallpapering! By far the most responsive and budget friendly option I found in my search. They were helpful with the prep before the install, arrived on time, and were done in 90 minutes at our business in Oakland. The wall looks amazing and the seams are flawless. I love looking at it every time!

Wow! What a wonderful experience. I wanted wallpaper but hadn't ever done it before and was nervous. I chose a design I liked and contacted Magic Wallpaper with the measurements of our wall. Alex was super helpful letting me know how much to order. Once it arrived I contacted Alex and we scheduled the install. Everything went so smoothly and I'm thrilled with the result!! Thanks Alex and team!

Alex and his guys are wonderful. They are detailed, on time and do a beautiful job! Alex responds right away and he stands by his job.

We hired Magic Wallpapering twice to complete 3 rooms & we are incredibly pleased with the outcome.

I'm a very happy customer. First and foremost, communication (via Yelp) was prompt and clear. I reached out to multiple contractors at once, and of those that responded Magic Wallpapering was by far the best communicator. They also quoted the best price. The worker arrived exactly on time (literally at 10am on the dot). The finished product looks great. Someone noted that they sub-contract, and that does appear to be the case. Regardless, the quality of work was five-stars and I also saw that the sub-contractor is a 5-star company. I'm really happy to have this project done.

Alex and his team were extremely professional and did a fantastic job. They were able to squeeze me in pretty quickly and finish the job in just a few hours. It came out absolutely perfect. I would 100% recommend them and I plan to use them again myself.

Alex and his team are the absolute best!! I made the mistake of asking my regular painter to install a peel and stick cloud mural on my nursery wall- he had no idea what he was doing and it was a disaster... both times he tried. I wisely contacted Magic Wallpapering and they came and got the job done correctly and beautifully and in a fraction of the time it took my painter to do a horrendous job. My biggest mistake was not hiring them first- I would have saved a lot of time, money, and anguish. I'm so grateful to these guys because now I have my dream nursery with a gorgeous cloud mural and I can focus on my excitement over the baby instead of the disaster that I was dealing with before Magic Wallpapering came and made it perfect. I shopped around before hiring them and I was shocked to find that some other wallpaper companies here on Yelp wanted 5x the price!! Alex and his team offer the very best price. Before they came I was thinking I might never do a wallpaper mural again, but now I feel like I definitely will as long as these guys are still in business!

Alex and his team did a phenomenal job with my wallpaper installation project. They were extremely reasonably priced and provided high quality work. They were honest about the issues that might arise given my walls texture and were able to give me the right guidance to make my decision. They also saved me a lot of money, when they realized the wallpaper could be installed without flattening the wall even though the wall was textured. I would definitely hire them again and would highly recommend them for anyone looking for great quality work at a reasonable price.

I hired them to do a pretty difficult wallpaper pattern and they nailed it. Very responsive via text and gave a quote without having to come over. The quote was the lowest one I got. They lost a star because they clearly sub contracted the job to a different wallpaper installation company. They said they have over a decade of experience and there were a lot of photos of previous work but it's unclear who is doing the work and if they use the same subcontractor every time. Plus I probably could have saved money if there wasn't a middle man. That felt disingenuous to me.

I highly recommend hiring Alex and his team for your project. We had them install wallpaper in three rooms in our new home and they not only did an incredible job quality wise, but Alex and his team were a joy to work with. From the very start, Alex quickly got back to my inquiry over email, provided simple to follow, straight forward pricing and it was a breeze to schedule the time for the work to place. I can't say enough good things about Magic Wallpapering. If you're on the fence, I hope our experience nudges you to yes, you won't regret it!

Alex's team did a great job on my wallpaper project. They gave the lowest quote of anyone I talked to by 50%, and finished 3 large walls in about 4 hours. I'd use them again for future projects.
