I signed in as a "founding member" before the Dublin location was open, and had previously hit them…read moreup on Lane. This review is for Dublin (a better experience, IMO). First off: the trend of "modern barbershop" isn't a new thing - we've got a handful around town all pulling a similar vibe (manly manly bourbon beer men drinking rawr). That's moot, because honestly, what you want is the result. If I am in the morning, I get a coffee. If I'm after noon, it's bourbon. They have a small, respectable collection (get out of here with your "they need to have..." no, they don't. They have a good, tight choice). Honestly, after my first visit, I was ready to quit, but decided I needed to give them a second chance and see if their barber/pedicurist could win me over. Chin was the fucking MAN - I have thinning hair, I don't have a lot to work with, but he hit the fade perfectly, styled it after - he seriously won me back to keeping my membership here. Eden was my pedicurist, who ALSO kicked it out of the park for me. (Dudes, take care of your feet). She was friendly, kept me hydrated, and let me know what was going on. I left feeling like my feet were taken care of (in the past, sometimes I felt like my feet were raw, but Eden left me feeling like I was walking on clouds). IF YOU HAVE a bad experience - give them a couple shots, change your barber/pedicurist, and TIP THEM WHEN THEY KILL IT. I went from being aggravated to being elevated, and they have my business as long as they keep these two on staff.

Modern Male does a good job of capturing the 'male spa' experience without feeling forced or pretentious and they offer a wider array of services than their peers. While I haven't yet sampled any of the their other offerings, I have been returning to the same stylist (Courtney) for a haircut/ scalp treatment for the better part of a year so far and couldn't be happier. Truth be told, I'm not sure what the value of the scalp treatments is - or if I need it, but it's a really relaxing massage at the very least! Everyone in the salon is extremely pleasant and engaging, and the space is cozy, clean, and has a good energy about it. They don't have their own parking, but there is a large lot nearby and I've never really had any issue finding a spot. I intend to avail myself of their other services in the future, so I may edit at some point, but this place is aces in my book!
