Did you know your Hurricane Accordian Shutters need to be maintained yearly and WD40 is NOT the way to go? I learned my lesson after Milton. Sooo. I recently found myself in a stressful situation with one of my hurricane shutters stuck and in need of urgent repair. I could not open or close it, and one never knows when one storm will follow another. I was really worried that I would not be able to get my shutter repaired before other hurricanes threatened, especially since we are having such a busy season. The first company I called told me they did not repair shutters because they cannot get parts anymore. She said , "I do not thing anyone repairs accordions anymore." That statement ratcheted up my stress. In retrospect, I am sure she was trying to sell me impact windows. But I do not want impact windows. I paid a lot for my accordions. They work great, and there is no need to replace them. The next company I reached out to could not come out until the following week and gave me a very high quote. I then reached out to Pacific Hurricane Shutters DreamGuard and I couldn't be more impressed with their service. They responded THE SAME DAY, which was a huge relief. From the moment I called, Andressa, who answered the phone immediately, (most of the other companies had a machine that said they would get back to me), was polite and understanding of my stress and urgency. She booked me for the same day and clearly explained the cost of a service call. She sent the initial invoice quickly and followed up with the final invoice just as promptly when the job was complete. She later texted to make sure the job went well, which I think is a lovely touch and shows a company that really cares. When the team arrived, it was clear that this family-owned business values professionalism and customer satisfaction. Carlos, Percy, and Barbaro were not only quick and efficient but also incredibly friendly and approachable. They diagnosed the problem with my stuck shutter swiftly and fixed it with ease. What stood out to me was their thoroughness. They didn't just stop at the immediate issue; they performed maintenance on all my other shutters and discovered a broken wheel. They promptly removed the shutter, replaced the wheel, and ensured everything else was in perfect working order. Apparently, one is supposed to maintain one's shutters yearly. Now I know. And I asked to be put on a yearly schedule immediately. WD40 is not the answer. The wheels and upper tracks need more. Their price for all the repairs and maintenance was extremely fair and reasonable, which is always a concern when dealing with home repairs. The combination of their prompt response, professional demeanor, and fair pricing makes Pacific Hurricane Shutters- DreamGuard a standout choice. We especially asked about having shutters all around (10 openings, including a large 8 foot tall slider) and maybe an impact window for the small bow window over the front door. We're not young any more and wrestling with ladders is difficult. He had already figured out that we were watching our budget (probably from the look on our faces when he quoted impact windows). He sat back and told us that, honestly, the window was so expensive and it was so much cheaper to get the accordion shutters and give a neighborhood kid 5 bucks to go up a ladder to open and close it. Yes, an actually honest answer that was not in favor of the company. That won us over. They weren't the cheapest - right in the middle, for the strongest shutters out there. But we TRUST THEM. The installer was a really nice guy, watched out for our pets, and worked his butt off. He was supposed to have a helper who never showed up. FIRST ONE, took 3 weeks to get a quote (I could only imagine how long it would take to get the work done) and the price was shockingly high SECOND and THIRD contractors I reached out to never even returned the calls The FORTH and FIFTH contractors finally came through with quotes and both were fairly priced. I went with Family Shutters over the competitor number based on customer service and not the price (both were about the same cost). Once I received my quote I had questions; I spoke with Rene Mejia (I believe he is the operations manager) who made himself available to answers question or to clarify points I didn't understand. As a contractor myself, I had numerous questions regarding the installation and materials; Rene always took the time to be in contact with me (very helpful and convenient). Once agreed to the terms and ready to do the work, I gave my deposit (a fair, small percentage compared to many contractors out there that require ridiculous deposits). Work was scheduled and the installer showed as promised. Once the installation was completed (by Ray) I had a couple questions for Rene to verify the installation would pass my insurance inspection and he explained everything and even gave reassurance that if I had any issue or problem, then he would stand behind the product and have it taken care of. After being frustrated by 3 other companies promising to come out and measure the openings, then have the installations done within a week, I finally contacted Protection Pros. The gentleman on the phone was knowledgeable, friendly, and promised to have someone come out on a Sunday to do the install. They arrived as promised and had the entire setup installed ahead of schedule within that next week. The cleaned up after themselves and did a very nice job at a reasonable price.
