Very convenient food stand located right on the beach…read more If you didn't bring a SINGLE snack like us to the beach and skipped breakfast (I know I know, WHO does that?) then you'll literally be the happiest human to know this place exists. We were in the mood for an easy beach day and didn't want to make a million stops and pack all the things. Knowing this place was around made our beach day so easy. Pros: breakfast food is available until 11am, they have all kinds of snacks, drinks, food - from burgers to nachos, quesadillas to grilled cheese. Cons: it's just a fast food spot, nothing super special about the food, the staff is half nice half stand off ish, the in house canned margaritas are just artificial lemonade. What I love the MOST about this place is you can place an order online ahead of time. Even better, you can place an order right from your beach chair and then meet at a specific meet point and they'll deliver it to you. Super cool and convenient especially with the extra long walk to their stand. I genuinely love the home made margarita cans but it would be nice if they actually put some tequila in it. Sadly, you do pay for a cocktail and get an extra light version of it.

Out-of-the-way places that are unexpected treasures are my favorite places to find myself . For today's review, let me invite you to the unusual yet very ordinary locale that is Siesta Beach Sand Pavilion. First, we start with a word about Siesta Beach. It is an award-winning stop noted for its most define quartz sand in the country, if not the world. Add to a tremendous location Sarasota surrounding environment makes CSO a hotspot for beach, lovers, family, getaways, and people watching extraordinaire. A special note about Siesta Key Beach Drum Circle's that take place here at sunset Sunday nights. The sand pavilion serves up some unexpectedly good comfort foods. The main feature for me that I always plan to have whenever I'm in Sarasota is the blackened mahi-mahi sandwich. Fresh fish, great seasoning made to order perfect every time. The sandwich is served up on a great bun with lettuce, tomato and onion the condiments that you might care for are available at your request. There's nothing vin ordinaire about the sandwich they serve. Honorable mention besides the blackened fish sandwich are the chicken tenders and other great comfort foods. You also have a variety of great cold beer choices, and access to sheltered seating and washrooms to give yourself a well-deserved break from the sun for your time at Siesta Key Beach. The sand Pavilion is staffed by friendly, efficient staff that always seem to add a touch of local charm. The Santa pavilion at Siesta Key Beach is a bit off the beaten path away from the mainland, and can be very crowded about any given time that the weather might be nice enough for a stop at the beach. Take my word, it's worth it every time! Until next time...tk

I love Dry Dock Waterfront Grill and I always visit when I am in the Sarasota area. Dry Dock is always busy so I am also sure to make a reservation in advance using Open Table. Typically we sit inside but I know the back patio is popular too. If your timing and patience is perfect, you can also get a nice a nice window seat in the dining room that has sweeping views of Sarasota Bay. The inside atmosphere is bright and airy and although airy often translates to loud, Dry Dock thoughtfully put noise dampening panels on the ceiling. As far as food, I don't think you can go wrong. I always get something with grouper whether it be an entree, sandwich or tacos. On my most recent visit I got the grouper filet with coconut shrimp because I had originally been eyeing up the coconut shrimp as an appetizer. Ultimately, we decided to get the rock crab claws for an appetizer which were good but more work than I planned even though they were pre-cracked. I felt like a Neanderthal trying to eat those crab claws in such a nice restaurant. No offense to the Neanderthals, of course! I have no idea what my husband had as it disappeared. After entrees, apps and bread, we were too stuffed for dessert. I think our server was Cari and she was awesome! Attentive, friendly, funny and quite possibly a mind reader and magician. She saw the hanger in my eyes and made bread magically appear. I hope I got her name correct because she was superb! Shout out to all of the great staff members at Dry Dock -we've never had a bad experience. I love Dry Dock and it will forever stay in my Sarasota rotation.
