Food had reasonably good flavour and the owners were nice. That said the food was openly microwaved from pots of cold food sitting nearby and presentation was 'slopped' on the plate. Have had great Afghan food before and this was far from it. Pretty disappointed. I certainly won't be going again. My guess is these wildly positive reviews are posted from the restaurant owner's friends and family. Or maybe in a smallish city like Freiburg it gets extra points for being 'exotic.'

The food is exceptional, and unlike anything I have ever tasted locally with unique flavours and spices in each dish. It has been owned by an Afghan family for over a decade. Even blindly ordering you will find yourself with something delicious and made with pride and care. Unlike most of the "Chinese" places they use fresh ingredients (not frozen) and proper veggies (Corn, carrots and peas in Chinese food?). Even ordering blindly (as we did at the beginning) you are guaranteed to get something yummy. Just watch the "spicy" level and ask for extra bread to eat with. We LOVE the rice with pistachios but even the plain white rice has a very special flavour..slightly like ginger and butter.. The orange lentils are delicious, as are the lamb on the bone, the chickpea salad, and my favourite: amazing eggplant appetiser. They also do take out quickly..perfect!
