the only reason im not giving one star is because the nurses here are incredible. i've been here twice for emergencies. both times, the nurses were really helpful in getting me back as quick as they can, even though i understand there are other things going on that may be more urgent. i will never leave a poor hospital review based on wait time, as i understand that things happen and others need to be seen before me. the first time, i had a gynecological issue that resulted from a surgical mistake (also upmc) and the gynecologist was so nasty! not kind at all, even though i was in the worst pain of my life. she said i was going to need surgery again and i broke into tears. they had the on call gynecologists come in (very great care from them!) who were incredible and said i actually did not need surgery, lol. anyways, my most recent experience here was so much worse. there was a (very obviously) new nurse taking care of me, and he stuck me multiple times and was digging around in my veins. it hurt worse than the care i was there for. i understand that everyone needs to learn somehow, but i have never been a difficult draw and definitely never had my veins dug in like that. left me with multiple bruises across my arms, which i guess i should have expected. he was nice, but i made it clear multiple times that he was hurting me and he would change his method and then revert back to what he was doing before. then (i came in for back pain, chest pain, and shortness of breath), they only ran basic tests like glucose, calcium, etc and nothing else! i ended up getting sick the next day with a cough and sore throat (makes sense considering the initial symptoms) and they didnt think to test me for anything else while i was there. no chest xray, no test for any sicknesses, not even a covid test with the classic symptoms. like i said, the (seasoned) nurses here are amazing, i just wish the doctors had more compassion and were actually willing to run some tests other than giving me pepcid and calling it a day. had to return to urgent care two days later, where they told me to go back to the hospital! ridiculous. anyways, props to all the other nurses!!! if it werent for everything else i would come here every time. read more
