Anyone growing up in Hawaii knows about One-Ton chips, and with good reason. These deep fried strips of won ton pi (wrapper) are such an addictive snack, the perfect blend of crunchy, salty, and sweet. There have been many times I've opened a 4 oz. bag and finished in a flash wanting more, so good thing they sell 15 oz. resealable bags too. At this factory they sell furikake flavored One-Ton chips which to my personal preference are a tad too sweet, I think I'd stick with the original. They also sell cookies which I didn't get a chance to try but heard are also delicious. The outside of the building is bland and you might miss it driving by. Press the Ring doorbell and someone will answer promptly. If you're lucky enough to go when they're making chips you'll enjoy delicious smells, and if you're really lucky one of the aunties will bring you hot fresh chips to taste. Our trip to the Big Island got us hooked on One-Ton chips and One-Ton shortbread cookies. At the factory, you can get large bags of chips for around 7 bucks (much cheaper than anything at KTA and even Costco). In the small showroom, you can catch a glimpse of the folks working in the factory and get a strong whiff of sweet and savory chips. The factory also sells furikake seasoned one-ton chips, jars and smaller boxes of shortbread, and even some fun merch like t-shirts and grocery totes. Lastly, the building isn't the most conspicuous, so keep an eye out when you are driving there. The lot is very small and the door to the showroom is at the side of the building facing the lot. Well we all know Wun tun chip growing up. Decided to check out their factory Maebo Noodle factory. With a blink of an eye you can miss it. No signage on the main road but I found it because of the address on the building. No store frontage only a small table with their merchandise on a book shelf. See my pics. Although the prices are lower than Oahu. The small size package on Oahu runs about $5.99 or more . Here at the factory $2.50 . They have a furikake Wun tun chip which they don't carry anywhere else. I have never been to this store personally, but I have ordered from them online a few times, and they are fantastic. Their Won-Ton chips are to die for! They are crispy, tasty, and have such a unique, addicting flavor. I have ordered a few boxes of the Won-Ton chips for my husband since he was born and raised in Hawaii and they were his favorite growing up. Shipping is really fast coming from Hawaii. I only usually wait 2-3 days from the day I ordered it for it to arrive in California. I will defiantly be ordering more chips from them in the future. I cannot recommend them more. read more

A stop at Hilo's Maebo Noodle Factory put the cherry on top of our visit to the Big Island. We were looking for something unique but delicious to take home as gifts, and these cookies and chips were perfect! Maebo's small product display sits in their office, where you can pick up large or small bags of One-Ton Chips, fresh noodles, and One-Ton Chip Cookies (in a large jar or small box size). The chips and cookies are perfect for your own enjoyment or taking home as gifts. Both the chips and cookies are completely addictive. You enter the building through the door labeled​ "Office." Rachel (Maebo granddaughter) greeted us as we entered. She was so gracious and knowledgeable​ as she assisted us with our selections of chips, cookies ​and noodles from the display. All were super fresh. You can view some of the factory operations from the office, so it's a fun, interesting stop, giving you the feeling that you're supporting a family business and a local treasure.
