Mae delivered on the floral arrangements that were not just true to what I had hoped for but much beyond that. I have to admit I wasn't the easiest customer since the pictures and ideas I originally sent her weren't entirely true to what I was looking for, but Mae was very accommodating. She redid my idea board twice to tweak some details that I had changed my mind about. She also had the idea to use mason jars as centerpieces, which was creative as well as practical gifts for guests; she went out of her way to find the right kind of jars and get them for me. Mae was also gave me a lot of creative input. What ended up being my favorite part of the floral arrangements was not part of my original vision: she realized that I was really attracted to the greenery and suggested making a eucalyptus table runner for the head table. The runner brought the "forest" into the reception area, and I just loved it! Also, despite floral restrictions at the wedding ceremony, Mae found a way to include rose petals wrapped in chiffon as an aisle/pew runner, which visually tied together the look of the chapel. Everything was ready the day before, and Mae worked tirelessly to make every centerpiece and bouquet just right. It was really a pleasure working with Mae and I am so grateful that she worked magic to turn my hodgepodge of ideas into a gorgeous floral vision. read more

The majority of my flowers were white roses and blue/white orchids for an August wedding. Being Asian American, I wanted a traditional western ceremony and an Asian reception--this meant a complete color change from white/blue to red. Mae was able to reuse some of the arrangements at the ceremony and replace blue with red, we saved so much instead of having to buy two completely different sets. I'm using my husband's account... Like all the other reviews, we were on a floral budget. Mae was referred to us by my husband's colleague. We decided to work with Mae because she didn't have a minimum spend like other florists. I spent months talking to Mae via email as I was overseas at the time. We worked out the colour scheme, the type of flowers I want to have and Mae adviced me against the very expensive ones and told me of the ones that are in season etc. Two weeks before the wedding we met up to finalise the details. And I was nervous that things would not turn out right. When I added a few more floral pieces Mae wasn't phased. On the day of the wedding Mae stopped by early to help me set up the reception (she offered to help me saying it's my day so I shouldn't have to do any work), she also set up the ceremony archway, delivered the bouquets and boutonnieres on the morning of. She did all this so quietly, I didn't even noticed her until she came up to me and my bridesmaid for a photo. Everyone complimented us on the centre pieces; some even took them home. After the celebrations, she text me to congratulate us and compliment me on my dress. I emailed Mae to ask if she could email a paypal invoice to my husband for the extra floral pieces. She sat down and listened to me try to talk about what I imagined - (for a girl who had not planned or envisioned every detail of her wedding as a child - this was a feat for me). It was casual and she brought her ipad with her to easily peruse through her pictures. She was able to move through different albums easily once she started getting a feel for what I liked. (i'm writing using my husband's account) the Facts: * wedding end of december 2011 * short 5 month engagement, full time school and full time work * paid for wedding ourselves, so tight tight budget the Results: Mae was an incredible blessing! we met a total of 2 times before the wedding (not typically recommended, but it worked for us!), first time to share my random ideas and talk about our embarrassingly low floral budget, and after a couple emails, one last meeting before the wedding to see what she had come up with (beautiful center pieces, boutonnieres, bouquets, decorations!) she was so considerate and mindful of our budget - i wanted driftwood branches on our long rectangle tables for our guests, and even though she didn't own any, she offered to buy them, split the cost with me so that she'd keep it in the end (what was i going to do with 15 driftwood branches anyway?) so, yes please! next, i had a picture of a gorgeous vintage bridal bouquet, was terrified of showing her and having a quote for an exorbitant cost, but in the end, it was practically 70% cheaper than any other bridal bouquet I had researched! she had a really good eye for making matching bouquets and boutonnieres, while still incorporating a DIY knot i made and gave to her beforehand. she was punctual, decorating the church to heading over straight to our reception (no travel fees!), and she didn't want to stay for dinner even though we were more than willing to include her as one of our vendors. to top all that off, she came at 10pm to take down her decorations, but the party was still going, she didn't want to interrupt, and ended up staying almost 2 hours waiting for the celebrations to die down before she cleaned up - and she refused to be tipped extra!! we were so speechless, and looking back, i could not have imagined a better florist and friend through those crazy months. she is a must have for any wedding! read more

I was looking for a budget florist who did not have a minimum. Mae was willing to work with my teensy weensy floral budget. I was getting married at Quail Botanical Gardens in the walled garden, so it's very green, but now a whole lot else. She was able to use the flowers I wanted (orchids, orange roses, those little green berries, protea, etc.) without breaking the bank. Mae put together 5 bridesmaid bouquets, 1 bride bouquet, and 4 men and 5 women boutenniers (sp?)/ pinned corsages. To decorate the space, she loaned me fake rose petals which she spinkled down the aisle and also made little cones with petals inside to throw as we exited. She wrapped curly willow around the arch and hung little vases with ribbon filled with water and flowers. I gave her the vases but she bought them from me so she can use them again in the future. They looked great and nowhere near the usual flower filled arches that look cheesy to me. I was very surprised and excited to see on the day of that she used the extra vases and hung one on each chair down the center aisle. She did not have to pay the extra money to fill those with flowers, but she did and went above and beyond and it looked amazing. She did all of this for under $400. That is a phenomenal deal considering how much I loved my flowers and that other places I went to charged $150 just for a bridal bouquet alone. My wedding won't be held until August of next year, but I like to find all my vendors early. I found Mae through yelp and she is amazing. She definitely keeps your floral budget in mind. She won't charge you an arm and a leg for flowers like most florists. I talked to other florists where the bridal bouquet is $135, Mae only charges around $60 for almost the same flowers. I'm on a tight floral budget. I tell all the florists I spoke to, to please keep that in mind. All of them did not keep that in mind except Mae. All the other florists say I need to double my budget or it won't happen. Mae respected my budget, and even gave me a discount when it went a little over. She is truly amazing. My son's wedding at our home in May in Solana Beach was lovely---and Mae's touches were a highlight! My future daughter-in-law found Mae on the internet, and chose her long-distance from Chicago. Mae did such a great job with my floral arrangements. She is very personable and exceeded my expectations. I gave her samples of what I wanted, combined a lot of different things I wanted, and the colors were on point. She was on time for dropping off everything at the ceremony and reception and at our hotels. She met with us twice before the big day and was responsive to all of my concerns and was good at handling two asian mom's who have high expectations on a reasonable budget :) She also did the cascading floral arrangement on my cake and had a flower at each table setting, which brought it all together. I would rate Mae Chan Floral 10 stars out of 5. Mae goes above and beyond to make your event exactly what you pictured. Mae took the time to meet with me multiple times before our wedding day on June 26, 2016. She wanted to make sure she knew what I wanted. She gathered lots of photos I sent her, Pinterest Boards, etc. In the end I think she knew what I wanted more than I did! I asked for rustic, romantic-- she made those words come to life! She put in countless hours preparing, gathering vases, arranging bouquets, garland, and centerpieces. I had a lot of eucalyptus garland throughout the ceremony and reception that was so beautifully hung and displayed. When I showed her a picture of the peony bouquet I wanted she kindly informed me that June is not Peony season- but she immediately had another suggestion, which was the David Austin Rose, which is my new favorite flower. I LOVED my bouquet... it was better than I could have imagined. My wedding was outdoors so I wanted to keep the florals looking natural to blend with the Ranch setting. Mae nailed it. I can't count all the compliments I got on the tables, bouquets, boutonnieres, arbor, aisle runners.... I was referred to Mae by a friend for my 2010 wedding. Mae was "Absolutely" instrumental in helping me design the floral arrangements for my wedding. Mae's creative vision helped make my wedding day truly special. My family and friends were very impressed with how my wedding came together and looked. My wedding was in June of 2011 and Mae did the flowers for the wedding. She showed me many kinds of flowers from her website and photos from previous weddings she had done. She worked with me to make sure it stayed within my budget. The flowers were absolutely amazing, fresh, and beautiful. I still get so many complements on the flowers and its been almost a year.
