We called on January 1st around mid day. We got an SUV stuck a couple hundred yards off of a paved road up in the sandia mountains. The driver asked for info on where the car was and I was super up front that it was stuck in super thick clay, and a normal truck wasn't going to be able to pull it out. He said no problem he has extension's and should be able to get the vehicle out. I wish he'd have been a little more up front and said he has limitation on where he can get and what he can do, because we probably would have sought other alternatives. He got up there pretty quickly and was very nice and pleasant. Unfortunately he was not able to get the vehicle out, and honestly made the situation worse, pulling the vehicle deeper into the rut it was in rather than getting it out. We could have got it out if we used a tree as a "snatch point," in the beginning rather than waiting until we pulled the vehicle more down into a ditch. A little frustrating on that front because I had to recommend the idea, rather than the paid expert doing so right away. He said up front it was a "recovery," and the charge would be $500. I was fine with it, if he got it out. When he was unable to get it out he said he'd charge $200. Again, I know he had used his gas, tires, oil, time, etc..... to get up there and I fully expect to compensate for that. I gave him my card and he said "do you mind if i do $250?" Like, what? Either say it's half price if it's unsuccessful or charge what you told us before. It was so weird, and I was on the spot that I said sure..... In reality I was going to tip him 40 cash for him attempting it, and being prompt and polite, but that extra $50 addition irked me enough that I did not tip. Overall, I would recommend this company for roadside towing as they seem prompt, nice, and can definitely take care of the job. If it's off road towing or getting pulled out from a muddy ditch, I would recommend looking for a "recovery," company or find some friends with off road Jeeps(we did that on day 2, and they got the vehicle out in less than an hour). read more

If you are calling a tow truck, you are probably having a bad day. Madrid Towing will make that bad day as good as it possibly can be. My van broke down in Albuquerque on a Saturday evening. I went through several roadside assistance programs to include AAA and no one was available to help. Early Sunday morning, I began calling around and made contact with Madrid who immediately said they would help. They sent out a tow truck that turned out to be too small for my vehicle. The owner showed up and between the owner and the tow truck operator, they were able to get my vehicle moved to a safer location. They explained that they had a larger tow truck, but that driver was off for the day. They texted him and when he heard about my situation, he showed up anyway and within a few minutes, had my vehicle all hooked up and ready to move. Worried about leaving my vehicle overnight at a repair facility that would be closed until Monday morning, they took my vehicle back to their yard and secured it for the night, then met me the next day at the dealership to drop it off. While I hope I never end up broken down in Albuquerque again, if I do, I'll call Madrid. Great service and really, really good people. read more

First thing first: I have had a small number of car tows over the 23 years that I have lived in Albuquerque, maybe 3-4, and I have been a party to several of my friends and familiy's experiences having their automobiles transported via wrecker, for a wide spectrum of reasons. And the range of cost simply to connect the vehicle to the tow truck, and transport it across Albuquerque, and store it until the next day has been: low side: $150, absolute highest ever: $240 Madrid Towing charged me $360+!! Highway robbery. Their invoice is festooned with ridiculous double charges, and mysterious fees for nothing i.e. the "gate fee" and separate towing, and winching fees? How could you tow the car without winching? Oh no sir, I'm sure the car will make it back to your lot in the uber ghetto without any sort of attachment! No winching for me. Plus, they picked it up on Monday at 5:20 pm, and I claimed it back from them at 5:15 pm Tuesday. Yet they had the audacity to charge me for 2 complete days in their yard. And the car had plainly been rooted through, and the suspension was damaged! Crooks. Really, the fact that they have a contract with the police to tow traffic violators, and so you don't even get a choice if you want to use their services? Is a huge red flag that screams CORRUPTION!! My vehicle was towed by this company and returned with damage Mudd in my tailpipes from where they put it down bumper cracked and lifted upward from impact of them letting it off the truck the owner even took some Mudd out of my tail pipes knowing it came from his lot and rushed me out of course after he took 300 dollars and it was not even a 24 hour stay when I called that same morning he was unavailable and did not return my call I had to call him when I did he denied it with no concern of could this have been done by my driver no the money hungry owner denied it!!! Sad that a professional gets away with price gouging and destroying property just because of his affiliates in the community sad Mr Madrd just sad!!!! read more

OK Had to make an account to tell people do not give this place business. Called them at 8:30 am and waited till almost 10:00 am after they said they would be here in 20 minutes, when i called them to see what happened the woman was very rude and said "oh we called you and YOU said You didn't need a tow. That's pretty funny but i tried to explain i did not receive their call that there may have been a mix up she read my number back to me and said "well we called" instead of saying were sorry for the mix up we'll send someone over quickly. Wasting my time is bad but being rude when I'm actually trying to give these crooks money well that's when i get mad and write a bad review. Oh and the business owner looks like a lying snake in that picture and probably has no idea how terrible his "Business" is run. read more

Needed a tow from the South Valley to the far North Valley. When my Jeep overheated. Madrid Towing Service showed up quickly, got the Jeep on the truck in no time and delivered it to my driveway with no issues. Price was reasonable. This is as good as it gets! read more

I got into my first car accident last week and APD said they would call a towing place for me. They never informed me that the towing place would charge me $100 just to get my car onto the tow truck. They charged me mileage and towed my car to literally the farthest place from my house possible (THE FAAAAR SOUTH VALLEY) without telling me that's where they were going. I tried to get my car back several times and they either didn't answer my calls, or they would put me on hold until my cell phone died. This place is extremely sketchy and probably doing many illegal things. DO NOT USE THIS TOWING COMPANY, AND DO NOT TRUST APD TO CALL A TOW TRUCK FOR YOU. read more

My mom and I were visiting from out of town this weekend and our rental car's tire blew out on I-40. We got safely to the side of the road and called several towing companies first to see if they could assist. None provided highway service. Madrid was the first to offer services, and Patrick arrived 20 minutes after I hung up the phone (just as they promised!). Very impressed. We were in a dangerous section of the freeway but Patrick got the car loaded up calmly, competently, and confidently. He then took us to a used tire shop and stuck around to be sure the car could be serviced. Very reasonable prices, especially for such a dangerous job.
