I received a call the morning of the rental and they wanted to make sure I had the information needed. The team showed up as scheduled. Got the boat in the water and helped us through instruction. Do not rent from this company. Additionally, the reverse gear did not work...the employee told us before departure that the reverse was " a little tricky, it doesn't always take." The reality was that the boat did not operate in reverse and we had to use manpower to avoid running into other boats when we attempted to dock/anchor. This was the most disturbing aspect of the rental because it was a safety risk, never mind the damaged and taped sections. We tried to discuss with Madison Jet Ski, but good luck reaching someone. There is no one to call, and slow or non-responsive to email. As a last resort, we attempted to find resolution with our credit card company, but were presented with legalese that we signed away any recourse in event of a complaint. Buyer beware, you have to sign off on everything BEFORE you take the boat out. Once you get on the water and discover any issues, you're stuck. My attempts at recourse began in July, and it is now mid-October. I will not waste any more of my valuable time dealing with this company, but it is my hope that sharing my experience will help others avoid the same fate. You can do better than Madison Jet Ski and your ~$700 with other firms on Lake Mendota or Monona.

I just want them to know how to swim and not drown. It was fine-- some ok teachers some great ones. But not everything is good. The upkeep of the building isn't great. They haven't cleaned their vents in YEARS and it shows, as evidenced by the vent above the changing rooms. It makes me wonder how clean everything else is.

There's areas for lap swimming/more adult centric activities, and kiddo friendly sections. And it has a slide!!!! No need to wait for hours at a water park to go down a slide. This slide gives you the thrill you seek, with no wait. Less the kiddos also waiting for their turn! The chairs are ready great quality for a public pool. They aren't the most comfortable thing in the world, but they are sturdy and do the job. Water was clean. I saw one hairball in the drain, which was a little gross, but for a public pool I felt safe. I didn't venture into the bathrooms this time so can't speak to those. My partner went to see the snack station and said there were plenty of affordable options should you get hungry. You are allowed to bring in food and drink, but there is a designated area to eat them. I saw a full season for residents is $85 and a daily was $6 (at time of writing this review). It's worth checking out for how reasonable it is. I'll definitely be back again!

I arrived for my reservation one hour early for the reservation and was told I didn't provide a Wisconsin license and they could not rent the boat. I asked them to cancel the reservation and they refused and charged my credit card for the rental. It would have been very helpful if they required a Wisconsin license prior to accepting the rental. I would also add Paul was extremely rude and not certain how he feels justified to charge for a service that was never provided. If you are looking to rent a boat in Madison, you should pass on Capital Boat Club.

We spent over two hours playing with our young grandchildren at the free water park - open 10am-7pm. Lots of water features to keep kids cool on a summer day geared toward kids up to about age 10 or so. Picnic benches and shade available. Next to the water park is an area of padded Astroturf with a slide and climbing net. The water park also has a section for toddlers with a gentle stream of water for the really young children to play in. The snack bar opens later and has a limited selection of treats and drinks so I'd recommend bringing your own snacks and drinks for you and your kids. For the adults, there's a nice coffee shop across the street that also sells pastries and beer. Fishing and swimming activities for older kids, teens, and adults are available at the beach area and lake - open 1-6pm ($2-$5 dollar entry fee, pay with cash or check only). Nice basketball courts here also.

The "beach" area is confusing... it seems like it would be a dog beach because it's so closed off and dirty. However, the sign say no dogs allowed. I highly recommend you don't consider swimming in this tiny, gross area. A couple boat landings/docks are nearby but they really to spend a little cash to upkeep them. The lake covers about the first 3-4 feet of dock so it's impossible to walk out there without standing in the water. During our time there, a couple boats did go out and in so it certainly is accessible. Play area is small but cute, my kiddo enjoyed it. There's a newer swing set tucked away from an older one. These areas are well mulched and clean. Lots of geese around so there's poop everywhere but somehow the kids area stays nice.

I parked there and took a walk around with the dog while the future wiffy went to MT to pick up her Madison Half Marathon packet. There's restaurants and a bike shop that does rentals quite close by, and depending on what you plan on doing and what time of day you go, the parking is free. Easy access to the lakefront trail. Amenities: 2 out of 5 Not a full scale "park" in the sense that there's a field house with bathrooms, but I do recall a porta potty there (maybe it was just there because of the marathon though). A few floating docks for people who want to launch watercraft rounds out the the "amenities". Picturesque factor: 4 out of 5 Looking out over the lake was really pretty, and I had the lovely experience of seeing a furry rodent swimming towards me, only to climb back into his nest under one of the floating docks. Muskrat, perhaps - but I didn't get a really good look at him/her. Dog enjoyment factor: 5 out of 5 A rare metric, but my dog enjoyed walking around, particularly because he enjoys walking on floating docks and being on boats....but he actually hates being in the water. He enjoys most things that involve being outdoors, however - so this may be a moot point. Overall: 4 out of 5 Not a whole lot to do if you plan on having a picnic, but if you want to hit up the lakefront trail by running or biking, it's a good place to park for a few hours. Likewise, it's also a really pretty place to take a few photos, and I'm sure the sunrise/sunset really looks cool.
