True received her kindergarten test results back and she is scoring above the norming group in Reading and Math by not just a little bit but by landslides! She is where she should be at the end of the year beginning 1st grade in all reading and math categories. This is a true testament to the work that you all do AND continue to do even in before and after care! We so appreciate you!  Having said that, Mrs. Nona we still need to improve in listening, following directions, and socializing. Hey, she is a work in progress lol but even in those categories there is progress so we thank you tremendously for treating our baby as your own and setting this foundation in an academic setting. You all absolutely ROCK!  Regards, Dr. Diran & Rev. Dr. Monique Cowell

There were several instances where it seemed the director at the time deliberately added to what I owed to the invoice because when I asked her about it, there would be no response. I have no problem paying, but you have to explain why $300.00 was added to the invoice. It wouldn't bother me, but that's like someone trying to get you out of character when you're just trying to support your child. There's very little leeway, and that's inappropriate. The Philadelphia Insurance contract I signed a few months after my child started was a bit strange. I looked up the company, and they literally had pedophilia insurance. I signed with caution. I'm not sure if I'm the only one who ever signed this or ever looked the company up because that is a major, blaring alarm. His teacher was excellent, but she hinted at a few things that were strange. Like, "They take money out of my check for the baby next door." She also talked about vomiting next to the director's desk. A few other things. She obviously put her all into teaching, so I thought it was end-of-day stress, and the director tried to get quite a few people out of character when they're not there for that. I don't know! I don't know y'all. My child did well, but it was quite bizarre and frustrating. I got way out of character, called "unprofessional" when I called the school. I tried to keep it about the bill, TRYING to forget everything else. I even went to the school, asked about the bill. She said she would send a link, and never sent it. I had a relative call and ask about the bill, she discussed it with him, said she would send a link after their 30 minute conversation, and did not send it. I found it a little disrespectful. I managed to get it rectified after ownership was transferred. At this point I'm not sure if the agreed upon amount had a horrible catch, or if it was from a sincere place.

I'm a longstanding member of The Life in Woodbridge VA…read more In 2001, after returning from a military assignment in Germany with 3 kids, we were looking for a good church home during time of 9/11. We wanted a place where we could develop friendships and where our kids could participate and grow. We found several military & civil service families there, and now 19 years later we are watching our kids go off into the military, graduate college, and go to college, etc. For me, church hopping was not in the cards for my family. I wanted my kids to grow up with in one church and have a place to come to where everyone would know their name. My kids received love packages while in college. We have a church family that shows up when we celebrate graduations or other events. We have a church family that joins together to help us if we are sick or if a loved one dies. When I was promoted to into the Senior Executive Service (SES), my church family showed up in large numbers to celebrate with me for the pinning service. I'm so grateful for how my church family surrounded us with love and helped us prepare an honorable funeral service for my 95 year old father in law, a WWII veteran. They also cooked, served food, and they cleaned up after the repast. They wouldn't let us lift a finger to help, they proudly and graciously said that it was our time to rest, mourn and be served. There's always something to do in the church, and getting involved helped us meet other people early on. We didn't stand on the sidelines and leave it to chance. I can't tell you how many things we've done as a family but it includes ushering, greeting, drama ministry, dance ministry, choir, deacon ministry, mission trips to Africa, organizing fundraisers, Community Development Corp, media production ministry, vision board and strategic planning, vacation bible school, back to school giveaways, holiday meals, meals for the homeless, marriage ministry, retreats, etc. We are having service online now due to COVID-19. https://thelifedc.org/ If you want and need a family to LOVE on YOU, visit us online and get involved. The school itself seems to be well kept, and they also seem to keep in line with the Montessori method of teaching (as far as I can tell, since the pandemic, parents are not allowed in the school, so everything I know is from my child). My one complaint is lack of communication. The school uses mainly the app Brightwheel to communicate with parents. They very rarely send photos of the kids, and never tell you if your child has gotten an injury while in their care. My child had 2 nosebleeds at the school that I had to find out from them (never mentioned by the school at all). Their was blood on their shirt, which they had to change out of during school hours, so the teachers must have known. In addition, when you reach out to the school with questions through Brightwheel, you rarely get a response back. Maybe about 50% of the time. You can also send an email to the admins, but they can take a few days to respond back to you. There is a phone number to call, but in my experience, no one answers it. My child has liked attending Aya, I just wish they would improve their communication with parents.
