When we had our first, we knew right away that we would need daycare. I searched, googled, went on…read morethe mom's groups and talked with friends. After visiting the Young School just once we knew it was where we wanted to send our child. Fast forward almost 2 years, we now have 2 in infant car, one who is in the toddler room and the other who just started in the infant room. I love the way the school is set up with the cottages and it really does become very much like a family. I know my kids are in the best of hands when they go to school and if anything went wrong I would know in an instant. They use a great app to tell us when and what they ate, when they got a diaper change, and their sleeping. It is so nice to know what is going on with their days. Sending photos almost on a daily basis as well is amazing and they get some of the best photos of my kids. My older son's teacher has become like family and I trust her implicitly. I can't say enough great things about the young school. Even the front office staff are amazing and have offered to help wrangle the two kids or help carry the infant carrier while i chase after the 2 year old.

I couldn't even get past the initial interaction with 'customer service.' I was asked for my name,…read moreprovided it and was told 'that's not the name I have.' Whoa, scary. Come to find out, The Young School keeps your info on file indefinitely even if you never tour or enroll your child. I inquired years ago when my middle child who is now 9 was one. They had no openings then. This means that they have had my info lying dormant for 8 years which I signed nothing agreeing to. I've gotten married, changed my name and had another baby since. None of this would have been an issue if the rep didn't respond in a suspicious tone when I provided my name. Instead of saying, "hey, I see you may have inquired about our center in the past, have you had a name change or gotten married?' It was more of a tone that conveyed suspicion. Just a weird interaction altogether. When I brought it to the attention of the rep she began to raise her voice and ask for even MORE personally identifying information. Lady I just want to know if you have any openings to start! May be a nice center maybe not, I would never know thanks to this initial interaction.

We've had a wonderful experience with Cradlerock Children's Center (CCC)! Both of my children have…read moreattended CCC, and our youngest is currently enrolled. From the start, it has been clear that this is a special place where children are nurtured, supported, and encouraged to thrive. This center is non-profit (the only non-profit early childcare center in the county), so you know that they are not just after your money, they really care about your children and their education. Tuition increases, when they happen have been extremely low. I was on the waitlist for almost 2 years (due to extremely low family turnover) for one of my children which speaks to the fact that they are offering a unique, well sought after program. One of my favorite things about CCC is the delicious and nutritious meals that are served every day and included in the price of tuition. And the best part is that its FARM to Table. No other preschool is offering that in the area. My kids are extremely picky eaters, but they eat all of the food served and this has helped me expand their palette and incorporate more nutritious meals at home. As a busy mom, having these meals takes one more thing off my plate for the week. The staff at Cradlerock is great and the center has really low turnover. There are teachers that have been there over 10+ years. My children have loved their teachers, and the staff consistency has made a huge difference in their comfort and development. The teachers are warm, welcoming, and really care about each child's growth academically, socially and emotionally. Ms. Amanda, the center's director does a fantastic job of balancing cost and budget but making sure there is delivery on effective high value programming and events. The admin and staff do a great job with communicating with brightwheel messages and newsletters to keep parents informed. She has also been leading the expansion efforts of Cradlerock Children's center's move to a new building which will happen in Summer of 2026 and CCC will be able to spread their goodness to even more families as they will be able to accommodate more families in a larger facility! The emphasis on social-emotional learning is one of the things I appreciate most. My kids learned how to manage emotions, interact kindly with peers, and problem-solve in real situations. Because of this thoughtful approach, both of my boys have made great friends and looked forward to school every single day. Another huge advantage for working parents is that Cradlerock is open on most calendar days, unlike many other schools that follow school system calendars, or have an insane amount of days off, the calendar at CCC is really great for working parents that need to go into the office everyday. Most importantly, the tuition cost is lower than many comparable programs, yet the quality of care, education, and overall experience is outstanding. We've always felt like we're getting great value for a top-tier early childhood program. I can't recommend Cradlerock Children's Center enough. If you are thinking of coming here, do it! It will be the best decision you've ever made!

My oldest thrived in both academics and social emotional learning. The teachers and administrators are incredibly knowledgeable and approach early learning in exciting ways! Don't get me started on the food and enrichment! The quality of the meals is unparalleled and my son loved growing food in their garden that he would then eat for lunch or breakfast. They have powerful enrichment classes such as STEAM and Fitness unlike anything I have ever seen in a preschool. Cradlerock Children's Center exceeds every expectations I have for preschool education (and I have very high ones ).

He spent time in the roosters and ponies classes. It's so clean, well staffed, decent staff retention, and I'm always wildly impressed with the behavior of the kids. My son has made a lot of adorable friendships. We've been obsessed with his teachers, especially Andrea, Kayla, Xhochilt, Mia, and Mackenzie. He's learned some Spanish, great classroom skills, and independence. Andrea has been there for 17 years which is so impressive to me. The communication with the admin is so fast and everyone always seems so chill. As someone who taught for 10 years, I find that to be incredible. That sense of peace really rubs off on the kids. They are a little pricier, but I think it's worth it. In the summer there is less consistency with the teachers because of vacations, but it is still well-staffed and they do so many events in the summer to make it extra special for the kids like tie dye, bubble shows, foam party, magicians, service dogs, bringing in reptiles, and musicians. On nice days they got outside 3 times a day. Their play areas are really nice. My son's favorite parts of the day were centers and playing in the sensory bins which changed daily. He came home with tons of art and meaningful knowledge about their weekly questions.

The 3 year old room teacher even took me on a tour herself. However, LISTEN TO THE REVIEWS!!! I read them before we started, warnings of the owners behaviors once you present her with a concern. Welp, we were 15 days in, I had a concern, addressed it with her directly, and three days later, she pulls me into a room to tell me that her staff is "not licensed to diaper three years old" and that "they should be asking" (3 year olds)to go to the bathroom. She also stated that her staff was "scared" to help my son to the bathroom because he is "punching them in the face" and telling them "don't tell me what to do, or I will leave this center, go get my mom and have her slap you." Keep in mind, he is 3!!!! He can't even cognitively put together that sentence, and we don't speak like that in our home. He has been in daycare for 3 years, another center prior that abrupt left closed down, which when he was there, they LOVED HIM and never had any issues, outside of him telling them "no," but what three year old doesn't. When I asked her to advise me why her staffing issues, of having to take my son to the bathroom was even be a problem, as her staff and center are license for this, she asked me to leave. Well that was it, I took my son and left, she said "good, better for us." I have raised 6 kids in Columbia daycares and have NEVER experienced this kind of communication or human experience. I have many, many connections in the community, and should have referenced them prior, as others have heard similar stories with the owner. It's I called DHR IMMEDIATLY-they stated there is NO SUCH LICSENCE stating that certain staff cannot diaper or change 3 years old. Or that they have to use the potty and cannot be changed. So, this was verified a LIE, so what was her motive??? I am so flabbergasted!!! LISTEN TO THE REVIEWS!!!! DONT LET THE APPEARNCE FOOL YOU!!!!!!!!! I also walked into the room yesterday to pick up my child and one of the providers was screaming at a little girl, "DONT YOU BE TRIPPEN ME GIRL," when she noticed I was standing there, she quickly looked away. HUGE Warning: stay away. All the reviews about the director and the way she talks to you, and places the blame on the parent and makes up stories, one person stated "pokes holes in stories," is TRUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! End of day teachers are rude, yell at the kids, and tell them "you better pick up your toys before leaving cuz we don't do that around here, we don't pick up after kids." I have heard this DAILY at pick up, in FRONT of parents, and they say it in a rude and nasty manner, eyeing up the parents, like we better not say anything. Don't get me wrong, yes, they should clean up after themselves, that's not my issue, its the way they spoke to the kids. Oh yeah, I was told when I was addressing the changing issues, that my son "needs to learn to adjust and that change was inevitable." This was DAY 3!!! I kindly asked them to have patience with him asking to use the potty , as he is trying to adjust to the new environment, and was told " what you dont think we do?" It was just one defensive, aggressive remark after the other by the owner. Bottom line: DO NOT SEND YOUR KID HERE, DONT LET THE APPEARANCE FOOL YOU, AND IF YOUR KID ISNT 100% POTTY TRAINED THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR YOU!!!! PLEASE PLEASE STAY AWAY!!! PLEASE!!! DONT PUT YOUR BABY OR FAMILY THROUGH THIS. I'm not usually one to YELP and hate social media but if I can save a child and their parents from a circus show and unneeded stress, then this is ALL worth it!

I've been really happy with MKD Kids Learning Center. We had my daughter at a different daycare and…read moreswitched here because it's closer to where we live and more importantly, I wasn't all that happy with the other daycare. At the old daycare she would cry miserably when I left every morning. I felt awful leaving her like that and it was a terrible start to the day. I figured some separation anxiety was normal (she is now 13 months), and expected her to at least be a little upset when I left her at MKD, but in the month and a half that she's been there, there has been exactly one instance of her being just a little sad when I left. My daughter LOVES Miss Jenny and is excited to see her every morning. I just wish I could have started her here earlier! I'm surprised to see the negative review about the management. The director, Miss Mona, who started the school originally as an at home daycare, is super nice and attentive. I've never had a complaint, so I can't speak from experience, but I have a very hard time imagining her being unreasonable. The staff all seem to have a great sense of humor and like to have fun, but still take their work very seriously. The kids seem to have a lot of fun here. They spend a lot of time outside (when weather permits) and parents get a weekly printout of the activities for the week (all with a theme). If there's only one thing I could change it would be to get more information on what they're doing each day. Some daycares use systems that send messages and pictures to parents throughout the day, which obviously would add to the overall cost and far from essential, but kind of nice. It's a nut free environment if that's of interest to you. Overall, I'm really pleased with the daycare - especially for the price - and highly recommend it.
