When I arrived, I was carrying a classic Louis Vuitton Neverfull tote. After presenting my ID to security, I was told I could not enter because the dispensary no longer allows larger bags inside. At first, I honestly thought the security guard was joking. The Neverfull is a standard-sized tote purse, and it's common to see people shopping or running errands with similarly sized bags, including popular Trader Joe's tote bags. The guard pointed to an unattended corner near the entrance and told me I was welcome to leave my bag there, assuring me he could "watch it." There was no secure locker or storage system--just an open area near the door. I was not willing to leave a $2K purse containing my driver's license, cash, and other personal belongings, where it could easily be stolen. If someone had grabbed my purse, I have little confidence that anything could have been done to prevent it. What made this particularly frustrating is that I've spent a significant amount of money at Harborside over the past 15 years. To be turned away over a perfectly ordinary tote bag felt less like a reasonable security policy and more like being treated as though I was a potential thief before I had even walked through the door. Unfortunately, this experience has left a very negative impression. I will be taking my business elsewhere--to a dispensary that values its long-time customers and has policies that are both practical and respectful. To the security guard on shift today, I'm not sure if you actually thought I was a thief or if you were actually trying to steal my purse, but either way I hope someone treats your mother the same way.

We got connected with PAC and learned about what could be done virtually, what they would need from us, and we pulled off a well-attended virtual celebration and fundraiser. Not only did they have the expertise to pull off a successful virtual event, but the staff also did an extraordinary amount of the heavy lifting to make sure that everything went off without a hitch including registration, reminders, and auction items. Surprisingly, we ended up not only having a meaningful event for our members and friends, we ended up raising double what we normally do at our annual in-person event.
